Over the next month, I just got worse and worse. My bones got brittle, you could see my ribs because I was so skinny, and my hair was thinning at an alarming rate.
I knocked on George's door quietly, and he called me in. When he saw me, he took a deep breath.
"George, we need to talk," I said slowly, and he looked at me.
"I don't think that's a good idea," he started, and I looked at him sadly.
"George, I'm dying," I said, and he scoffed.
"No, you're not," he said, and I ran my hands through my hair, showing him that my hair was thinning. A bit came off in my hand, and he looked at me with a small bit of concern before his face got serious again.
"George, I'm deteriorating a little more every day. I'm withering away," I said, and he sighed.
"Have you been to a doctor?" George asked, and I nodded my head.
"They don't know anything," I said, and he nodded.
"No! You aren't allowed to do this! I just- I just got over you, Lizzie. Don't make this harder, please," he begged, and he looked like he was going to cry.
"George, I'm sorry. I just- no one else will listen. Paul is in denial, and no one else really thinks anything of it, so I came to-" suddenly, my legs gave out and I hit the floor. Everything went dark, and that last thing I saw was George rushing to me.
I awoke to George singing to me softly. I noticed that his eyes were puffy, and I realized he had been crying.
"George, wether or not you want to believe me, I am dying. I can feel it," I said, and he nodded sadly.
"Okay. What do you need me to do?" He asked, and I looked up at him.
"As much as it pains me to be with you right now, I need you to take care of the boys when I'm gone, especially Paul's. I don't know when it's going to happen, but it's soon," I said, and he nodded understandingly.
"Okay, I will," he said quietly, and I got up slowly, almost falling again. I felt a bit better knowing that everyone I loved will have been taken care of when I died, all I have to do is die.
