"What are we?" Paul asked as I clicked off the light and climbed into bed with him.
"Friends," I said, and I knew he was gonna argue with me about it.
"Liz," he said, and I turned to him.
"Paul, no. I can't do this with you, or George. I can't be in a relationship right now," I said sternly, and he sighed into the darkness.
"Well why not? We can be together now!" Paul said, and I felt myself begin to tear up, but I didn't let the tears spill over.
"Because Paul, I'm not going to be with you much longer," I explained, and he just sat it the darkness, looking at the ceiling.
"Where are you going?" He asked innocently, and I let the tears fall silently in the darkness.
"Paul, I'm dying," I said, and he scoffed.
"No you aren't! Don't be ridiculous!" He said, but I heard him sniffle after that.
"I know it's hard, Paul. I know it's sad, but you'll be fine. Who's that girl you're dating?" I asked.
"Linda, but I don't want to be with her, I want to be with you," he whined, and I wished so much that I didn't have to go, but I knew my time was almost up.
"I know you do, but it's my time," I said sadly, "you'll be okay. I know you love her. Just promise me something," I begged, and he sighed.
"Anything," he said, and I knew he was crying from his voice.
"Marry her. Let me go when I'm gone, Paul," I pleaded, and he promised to try. That's all I was asking for.
