Dylan POV
I walked into seven eleven and looked around. There is only one other customer in the store and the person mending the cash register is an old frail women who looks to be 85 at least. I grab a carton of milk and walk up to the cash register. I put the milk on the counter so she'll be forced to walk away from the cash register. As she scans the carton for the price tag I quickly grab the money from the cash register and run out the store.

I hear footsteps behind that I'm guessing is from the other customer, but I don't stop to find out. I sighed as I ran when I heard sirens. I quickly start sprinting faster as the police cars are chasing me. I see an open window, and to the strangeness of it there happens to be a ladder that leads to the window. I quickly climb up the ladder onto the roof and into the window before the police can see me. I close the curtains and turn away from the window.

The walls are a very light blue, and the floor is a dark brown wood. I look around the room and the bed has a comforter that's white with a large black and white wolf in the middle. I look around more and my eyes fall onto a desk with nothing on it and a mirror hangs above it. The mirror is covered in photos. Most of the photos looked a bit depressing but there were a few photos that showed a little girl maybe around five with another women who is guessed to be her mom. I look at each photo with curiosity. I come out of my thoughts when I sense someone behind me.

It was an older man, who looked to be 49. He had brown hair that had a few grey strands he had a beer bottle in his hands and I could tell he was a bit drunk.

"What the hell are you doing here get the fuck out!" He suddenly started screaming at me and it caught me off guard, I winced as he yelled at me. I didn't want to make this guy more pissed off so I climb out the window but I don't get off the roof, because I could see cop cars circling the neighborhood.

I hear the man yelling more, but it wasn't at me. Whoever he was screaming at was very quiet, too quiet for me to hear, but I knew they were responding due to the pausing in the mans voice. Finally after a moment of silence, I hear a door slam. I see a police man start to get out of his car so I climb back into the window. I thought no one was in there, but I was wrong.

A girl with short black hair, and pale skin her bangs and glasses covered her eyes a bit so I couldn't tell what color they were. The girl had headphones around her neck. She was wearing ripped black jeans and a red top with a leather jacket over it. She just stood there not saying a word, but I knew she was confused at why I was in her room.

"Oh umm, sorry..." I wasn't sure what to say and before I could figure out what to say she holds up a white board.

I look at the white board and read 'hiding from police?'

I look at her stunned that she figured that out, then again it is a pretty run down neighborhood, but I didn't think of that much, I was just curious at why she hasn't spoken. I nod slightly and she erases the white board and walked to the window. She looks out the window and then climbs onto the roof motioning me to follow. I follow her hesitantly and she climbs onto a branch of a tree and motion for me to do the same. The branch was wide and strong enough to walk on.

She leads me into a tree house that sat perfectly in the tree. Inside there was an old mattress with blankets, a small chair and a cooler. She took the white board that sat perfectly on the cooler, and wrote 'you can stay here for the night until police leave.' I look up at her and smile.

"Why are you helping me?" To be honest I had no idea. No one has ever helped me before but now a girl who I don't know the name of is helping me. She starts writing as she sits in the chair.

I read 'because all people have a good inside them somewhere, you just have to look for it. And I hope that one day you will help someone you don't know.' I read her words carefully and she sat there starring at me knowingly. I nod and think of what to say.

"Oh I'm Dylan by the way..." I hold out my hand as she writes, when I realize that she isn't going to take my hand I pull it back and shove it in my pocket, awkwardly.

I look up and read her white board 'my name is Alex.' I smile and nod and she motions for me to get comfortable as she starts to leave to old treehouse. I climb into the warmth of the blankets on the mattress and fall into a deep comforting sleep.
