"Well umm...we have a past..." Zach said

"What do you mean past?" Jake finally spoke up

"Well remember when I wasn't in school for three months? Well in those three months, I met her. Only a few times...strictly friends though..." he managed to say in one breath.

"How did you meet?" Sam asked, we were all intrigued, because Zach was our newest friend, because he moved here last year. We never knew much about him.

"It's umm...personal..."

"You know you can tell us anything, right Zachy boy?" I rolled my eyes at Sams nickname for Zach.

Three days later
---
It's been three days since she talked to me, well signed to me I mean. I really want to apologize for what happened but her sister keeps getting in the way.

I thought Alex was supposed to be protective of Emma not the other way around. Guess there is a lot to still learn about them.

I was sitting on the couch watching Friends, when Emma came out of her room.

"Hey so I'm going to my friend Kelly's house, I'll be home soon." She said as she grabbed her backpack.

"Okay have fun!" She rolled her eyes on her way out the door. I quickly turned off the tv, and stood up and walked to Alex's room.

I knocked on the door and after maybe a minute she opened the door. It looked as if she might of been sleeping. She was wearing a black tank top, sweat pants, her glasses.

She had the blanket wrapped around her to cover her arms, her hair was her usual mess

She had the blanket wrapped around her to cover her arms, her hair was her usual mess. She actually looked kind of cute like that. Wait what?!?! Not cute!!! I was pulled away from my thoughts by her clapping.

'What do you want?' She signed

"I wanted to apologize for what happened in the bathroom, I would have apologized sooner, but yo sister didn't give me a chance to."

'It's ok, I'll talk to her and tell her to lighten up. Maybe you guys should hang out more and get to know each other more. Like me, my sister has some trust issues. So you just need to get her to trust you. If that makes sense.' I nodded my head wondering if I should bring up what I saw that day.

"Umm Alex?"

'Yes?'

I didn't know what to do, should I wait for her to tell me, or should I confront her? I never been in a situation like this before. I pulled away from my thoughts once again. I walked up to her and gently took the blanket off her. If she was trying to resist it then I wouldn't know because she is so small compared to me. She is probably around 5'3 while I'm 6'1

I gently tossed the blanket onto the floor. Alex's eyes were wide, and I could see her bright purple eyes that could make anyone and everyone's day. She tried to cover her arms by crossing them and bringing them close as possible to her. I took her small pale handing inside my big one and flipped it over.

My heart broke at the sight. She hand at least 45 cuts going up her right arms and maybe more on her left. She pulled her hand away from me.

"Why?" I was upset, my best friend, the one who saved me multiple times, the one I might actually love was broken.

Me the bad boy who loved no one, except for the broken girl. If I could switch places for her I would, just to take away any pain she has felt.

'Because life can suck.' Her eyes started to water up, but she was persistent to not let them fall.

'I can't expect you to understand, but I hope you will treat me the same way, as before you knew.' I nodded and hugged her, then quickly walked away. I needed time to think.
