I awoke to the sound of beeping. I opened my eyes and immediately remembered where I was. I look toward the doorway to see Alex wearing blue skinny jeans, a shirt that said 'normal people scare me' and her black leather jacket, black high tops and her glasses. She had black eye liner and black eye shadow with lipgloss on. I could tell she wasn't a people person. When she saw I was awake she turned off the alarm clock and started writing something on her board.
I read, 'get your lazy ass out of bed, you going to be late for the last day of school.' I smiled at her choice of words.
"How do you know if I even go to school." She rolled her eyes at me and started writing.
'Cause I see you in the halls you douche. You just don't see me...well no one sees me let's just say.' My smile faded, and I looked at her face. She had no emotion on her face, just a scowl I still couldn't see her eyes because of her hair and glasses, I shrugged it off and I rolled out of the comfy mattress and put my shoes on.
"Ok I'm ready." She looked at me and a tiny side smirk came to her face, but it left as soon as it came.
'Same clothes as yesterday?' She wrote so I nodded. She rolled her eyes and we climbed out of the tree house and started walking to school together. Well more like she walked and listened to music while I followed. I didn't know my way around this part of town, due to it being one of the most dangerous parts of town, and I rather not get into any trouble with the druggies. What just cause I steal, doesn't mean I'm into drugs and shit!
Alex POV I was walking to school listening to my favorite band Styx. The music came out loud through my ear buds but not loud enough for Dylan to hear. Dylan just trotted beside me trying to keep up with me, because I usually walk very fast for a teenager at 6:30 in the morning. He didn't say anything until halfway through the walk.
He tapped me on my shoulder and I took one earbud out reluctantly. It was in the middle of my favorite song, Renegade by Styx.
"So why don't you talk?" He asked, I rolled my eyes and pulled out my red notebook.
'I'm mute' I wrote and he read it carefully then nodded. Right before I could go back to my song he faces me.
"Does that mean you know sign language?" I nod my head as a reply. He looked away and he was silent for the rest of the walk... luckily for me.
--- At lunch
Dylan POV I walked into the cafeteria and started walking to my group of friends at the lunch table when I noticed Alex sitting alone. My three friends starred at me as I walked past their table and over to her.
"Hi..." she looked up from her note book, and took off her headphones and waved. "Why don't you come sit with us?" She shook her head no, but I didn't care. I took her headphones from her and grabbed her lunch so she would follow me. She followed me to my lunch table where Jake, Zach and Sam sat waiting for me.
"Hey guys this is Alex. She's a friend so be nice."
Alex POV He forced me to follow him by taking my headphones. To be honest I didn't care if he took my lunch or not cause I wasn't hungry.
"That's Sam, Zach and Jake." I sat between Zach and Dylan and Zach smiled at me, but of course I didn't smile back. It was always hard for me to express emotions and it still is. So I just learned to shut everyone out that way they won't have to deal with me and all my problems. Obviously it isn't working anymore.
Dylan and his group are the biggest trouble makers and bad boys, always stealing, and they never really talk to anyone outside their group so you can only imagine all the rumors, but are also very popular and are players, because after all every girl likes a bad boy...and not to mention they are kinda hot. I could feel some of the girls gazes on me, I could feel their jealousy and hatred radiate off them and onto me as they burn holes into the back of my head.
"So Alex are you new to the school or something?" I looked to where the voice came from and saw that it was Jake who asked the question. Before I could take out my notebook Dylan was already answering for me.
"No. I asked her the same thing and she said and I quote 'I see you in the halls you douche. You just don't see me...well no one sees me let's just say...'" Dylan said with a large smirk on his face. Jake nodded, but I could tell he was confused. Soon the lunch bell rang and lunch was over. I packed up my things and went straight to English, my last class of the school year, and next year I will be a senior so I can finally leave, but for now I walk to English alone, without a word...like always.
