Alex POV
I walked home and less then half way home it suddenly started down pouring. Luckily for me I love the rain. I took my hood off, so I could feel the droplets on my face. I kept walking for about five more minutes until I felt a presence next to me. I looked over to see Dylan walking next to me starring at me with amusement in his eyes. I rolled my eyes at him and he tapped me on the shoulder.

I look over and he hesitated but then started signing 'so what you think about this poop?' He signed

Dylan POV

I tried to sign 'so what you think about this weather' but I think I did something because she shook her head. I did the last word over and she signed something I did not understand. She rolled her eyes and took her white board out.

It read 'you signed poop instead of weather' Well there goes my plan, I admit it was a bit embarrassing trying to sign something with confidence to some random ass deaf chick who really good at sign language, and then happen to mess up. She gave a small smile but it disappeared as soon as it came. I never really seen her smile, and I still haven't. At least not a real smile. I look over and she was holding her board to me.

'To answer your question I actually love the rain.' I nod to recognize that she wrote something. It was a bit hard to read though because the rain started to wash the marker away, but it was readable.

"Why? I mean like, not most people like the rain. I honestly don't like it either. I find rain sad, but I don't like sunny days. I prefer cloudy days." I responded as she started writing.

'It's silly...' she wrote. I shook my head.

"I don't think you could ever say anything silly." She rolled her eyes and started writing on her board again.

'Ok don't laugh but...I think it as if the rain is washing all pain and thoughts away. Like it just washes all the bad away. Leaving you pure, clean and happy' I smile at her answer, it was a good answer.

"I never thought of rain that way..."

'How did you learn sign language?' She wrote

"I actually learned that sentence in study. I looked it up." She shook her head with a smile on her face. It wasn't one of those small smiles that disappeared. It was a smile that lingered for a while and that was brighter and fuller. She had a smile that could make other people smile. Her smile made me smile and made me chuckle a bit.

'What?' She wrote

"Your smile..." I said between laughs. Her smile quickly faded and she seemed embarrassed.

"No...you smile is beautiful. It's just one those smiles that make others smile and laugh..." she gave a small smile, it wasn't like the smile I saw before. It was just one of the small smiles that faded as soon it came. That made my smile disappear.

"What do I have to do to make you smile?" She shook her head and pushed my shoulder playfully. "Umm...we are friend right?" I felt bad for what I was about to ask her, but I didn't have much of a choice. She looked at me and gave me a nod yes.

"Good...can I ask a small favor?"  She looked at me to show that she was listening.

"Do you mind if I stay in the tree house for a few more nights?" She laughed, but it wasn't genuine, it sounded nervous, not happy. That made me nervous.

She started writing and I waited for her to reply. 'Of course you can! I thought you were going to ask me something like...idk to kill someone!' Her reply caused me to laugh, a happy laugh. My nerves washed away and I relaxed. To be honest Alex was intimidating, because you never know what to expect from her. I know I know, a "bad boy" like me shouldn't be intimidated by a girl, but she made me look like a unicorn on a rainbow. She was the definition of bad. Some people say she was in prison, while others say she killed someone, then again those are rumors, but they could be true.

For some reason I felt comfortable with her, she wasn't like those snobby bitches from school, she was..different. When I say different I don't mean she's like hot or anything or that I actually like her. All my friends are trouble makers and have some darkness in them. And Im not saying she is a friend either, she's just someone who's helping me out so I am just helping her out. Alex had a lot of darkness...I could feel it. Not a lot of kids had the darkness in them only Alex, Zach, Sam, Jake and me. Me and Alex walked the rest of the way in silence. She told me to go up the latter into the tree house and I did so. She went through the door of her house. An hour went by until she climbed into the tree house. She was wearing her hood and her hair was covering her left eye entirely. I still never knew what color her eyes were, but I didn't ask, because I didn't want to be weird. She gave me a pair of sweats and a t-shirt to change into out of my wet clothes. I'm just glad she didn't ask about why I wanted to stay in the tree house. Who knew what she thought. I shrugged it off to enjoy her company. Soon I could hear her dad calling her from outside her bedroom door and she rushed into her room, but I stayed put, and changed into my dry clothes, and soon my eyes became heavy and I fell into a deep sleep.
