Awakenings - Part One

False Betrayal

I don’t know how long I was unconscious for but I felt a bump on my head and then I remembered meeting the catalonia and being acutely terrified at that memory.
I couldn’t see for a blindfold over my eyes which had been knotted and corded around to make me unaware of any sunlight.

It made me think of all the myths surrounding vampires and their aversion to the rays of the sun.
I could hear breathing all around me and in that moment I pondered as to what was actually going to happen with me.

And then I felt movement.
The bottom of the restraint was loosened, just enough so I could breathe in some fresher air into my lungs.

“Do you know where you are?”

The voice was soft yet commanding
.
“No I don’t, why am I here……wherever here is”.

A long silence ensued.
“Pamela is away on business, you must give me your report”.

“Report?”

“Yes, I want the location”.

“My mind raced because no one knew about any of this, even Pamela kept my existence a secret from her cohorts”.

“I don’t know what you are talking about”.

A sneer and then a fist in my stomach.

It wasn’t that strong but did wind me

“Pamela entrusted me with the information to give it to no-one else”.
Stoned silence again.
“You know who we are, tell us what we want to know or else”.

“Else what?”

I tasted the blade that was thrust close to my mouth, it was sharp and there was no doubt that it could inflict serious harm upon me.

I didn’t want to die.

“I am not telling you, torture me all you will”.

I heard soft laughter and then the blindfold was removed.
I could see and the light that surrounded my eyes began to fade.

I was back with Lenora and she was looking at me, I saw the catalonia guards and recognised the Lady Rosetta.

“What is going on?”
“We know what Pamela did to you all those years ago so we had to find out if your loyalty to her was foolproof”.

“It was, she could kill me at any time”.

“Look behind you”.

I saw Holly.

“By confiding in the girl you did the right thing and prevented your imminent death, I have sneaks in her camp and know that she was congregating the whole of her vampire guard and that they were going to drink your blood as your payment for the information”.

She really didn’t care about me or any human kind.

I cried and cried and was then surprised when Lenora put her arm around me.

“You should have told me, only I had the power to stop this”.
“I was afraid”.
“You need not be afraid any more, two of the catalonia guard have gone to see the vampires and have told them to back off, they dare not risk confrontation with us right now”.

I looked at Lenora.
“Im sorry”.

She took hold of my hand and led me upstairs to her room.
“Its ok, we know now…….you have us completely and together we will destroy these undead heathen”.
I rested my head in the crook of her neck and then looked up into her eyes.

“I love you Lenora”.

Her eyes widened in shock.
“You do?”

“Yes I have for a long time and I have wanted to tell you about this for so long”.

She took my hand in her own.
“Once this is all done we have a wedding to plan!”
