So, school let out about a month ago, and today was the Pride Parade.
Blake and I were going.

Blake and I we sitting in my room trying to tie our flags around our necks when Carson walked in.

"What are you guys doing?" He asked.

I tuned around.
"Trying to tie our flags around our necks before we go to Pride."

"What's that?"

Blake finished tying the rainbow flag around his neck.
"We're going to the parade where basically people walk down the streets with all kinds of things like floats and flags and all kinds of stuff related to the LGBT community."

"That's cool." Carson said.

"Yeah. Do you want to come?" Blake asked.

Carson smiled.
"Really?"

"Yeah." Blake turned to me. "Can he come?"

I nodded.
"Ask mom."

Mom was actually walking down the hallway with a basket of laundry when I said that, so she already heard me.

"Ask me what?" She asked.

"Can I go to the pride parade with them?" Carson asked.

My mom thought for a minute.
"You know what? I want to go. Get in my car. I'll take you guys. Let me get ready." She walked away.

I stood in my room, shocked. I didn't think for a second she'd want to go.

So Carson called sitting in the front seat, and me and Blake were sitting in the back when my mom walked out.
She was wearing a normal t-shirt and shorts, and she had pulled her hair back, but her face completely shocked me.

She had painted the transgender flag on her cheek with face paint.

She got in the car.
"Everyone ready to go?"

We all said yes, and then she drove the half hour to the pride parade.

When we got there, the parade had barely started.

We got out of the car and started watching the parade. My mom was surprisingly cheering a lot.
There was a ton of people walking with flags and there was a lot of floats. There was a few churches walking through and there were police and firemen with rainbow lettering on the side of the vehicles.

There was a photographer walking around who actually got a shot of Blake and I hugging. I turned around to see if my mom saw, but for some reason she wasn't behind me.

Turns out someone was selling shirts and she came back with a shirt that said "I heart my trans son" on it.

I almost fucking cried okay.
