Shadin never answered my calls.
Her mom didn't, either.
I never heard anything about her that day.It was Monday, and I was walking into the school.
I was shoving my backpack in my locker when Blake walked up to me.
"Hey Cole." He said.I glanced at him. "Hey Blake."
I finished taking out what needed from my locker and closed it.
"Have you heard anything from Shadin?" I asked. He shook his head. "Why?"
"I tried to call her yesterday, and she never answered. Lindsey hasn't heard from her. I don't think she showed up to school today. And she's still not answering my calls. I'm worried."
He gave me a concerned look and leaned up against my locker.
"I'll ask around. If I don't hear anything do you want to drop by her house after school? Just to see if she's okay?"I shrugged. "Sure."
The bell rang, and Blake rolled his eyes before hugging me.
"See you later.""Okay, bye."
I watched Blake walk away for a second before going to class.
I was doing some of my math homework at lunch just so I didn't have to do it later when Blake sat down next to me.
I put my pen down and closed my notebook.
"Have you heard anything?" I asked.Blake shrugged. "Some guy said he saw her getting in her car leaving the fair. That's all."
"So I guess we're stopping by her house?"
"Guess so." He nodded.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, the last bell rang, and I headed outside to Blake's car.
