Shadin never answered my calls.
Her mom didn't, either.
I never heard anything about her that day.

It was Monday, and I was walking into the school.

I was shoving my backpack in my locker when Blake walked up to me.
"Hey Cole." He said.

I glanced at him. "Hey Blake."

I finished taking out what needed from my locker and closed it.
"Have you heard anything from Shadin?" I asked.

He shook his head. "Why?"

"I tried to call her yesterday, and she never answered. Lindsey hasn't heard from her. I don't think she showed up to school today. And she's still not answering my calls. I'm worried."

He gave me a concerned look and leaned up against my locker.
"I'll ask around. If I don't hear anything do you want to drop by her house after school? Just to see if she's okay?"

I shrugged. "Sure."

The bell rang, and Blake rolled his eyes before hugging me.
"See you later."

"Okay, bye."

I watched Blake walk away for a second before going to class.

I was doing some of my math homework at lunch just so I didn't have to do it later when Blake sat down next to me.

I put my pen down and closed my notebook.
"Have you heard anything?" I asked.

Blake shrugged. "Some guy said he saw her getting in her car leaving the fair. That's all."

"So I guess we're stopping by her house?"

"Guess so." He nodded.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, the last bell rang, and I headed outside to Blake's car.
