Day three: A book you love
''How long has I been since you talked to your family?'' he asked.
That question struck a chord in me, and it surprised me that it came from a more-or-less stranger.
This book was starting to get heated and my best friend decided that it would also the perfect time to throw a huge, and might I add, heavy, pillow on my head. Annoyed, I got up on knees, my bed wobbling along, and glared over at her.
''Do you fucking mind?''
She placed a hand on her waist, ''Yes, I do as a matter of fact. Stop reading that book and go get ready for school already. You've been late to class, like what, three days in a row now?'' she stated, her eyes boring through my dull ones that wasn't even fully open.
''It's still early, Kendra.'' I said, snuggling myself back into the blanket, but before I could fully get underneath the warm fabric, I jumped up again and turned my face to her, ''and why are you even here so early in the morning,''
She grinned goofily, ''Couldn't sleep,''
I narrowed my eyes as I inspected her face for any abnormal signs. My eyes widened and suddenly I was pointing my index finger at her, ''You!'' I pointed out, ''You were up all night talking to that jerk!''
''I was not,''
''Your face is getting awfully red there, Cara.''
''So is yours,''
''Because I'm mad!'' I explained, getting up on my own two feet. ''I told you so many times not to talk to him again, he's a jerk, and he's only using you to-''
''What is the name of the book again?'' Suddenly, I had forgotten about the subject we were previously on, and my mind wandered back to focus on the little book on this app, that I was obsessed with.
There were no words to explain how much this book was shaking my heart, and how it made me feel all of these things. All these things that is really weird for someone who has never been in love or even had any special interactions with guys, to feel.
I might've read it three times already, and for someone who gets bored quite easily, that says a lot.
I jumped on my bed to get my phone, and once I had it in my arm, I unlocked the phone and clicked onto the app to show her the cover of the book. ''It's this book called Take me home, and oh my god, Cara!''
''What!?'' She sounded somewhat excited, and that was good enough for me to get me going.
''If you ever rea- no, you have to read this book. For starters, there's this really cute guy in this book, his name is Elliot,''
''Hold up,'' She held up her palm towards me, ''You're telling me that there's a guy called Elliot, who's cute and not weird?''
''Yes, Cara!'' I yelled, ''Yes!''
As I kept going, talking about the book, as if it held the world in it, Cara was just nodding in acknowledgement. After a couple of minutes of talking about it, I noticed she had pulled out her phone and was currently smiling at the screen.
She got my hopes, thinking that she was downloading the app because she wanted to start reading the book now after I had told her a lot about it, but to my surprise, as I peeked over, she was texted that jerk again.
This time, I didn't prevent myself from snatching the phone from her and tucking it in my back pockets.
''If I can't read the book, you can't text him.'' I tell her, strictly.
Before she could comment though, I was already on my way to the bathroom to get ready.
