25 - something you're currently worrying about.

-

It's been four months.

Four months since my mom lost her job at the store, and four months since she said that she would go out and look for another job.

I knew she was under a lot of pressure, trying to make a living for her two kids. But I would've hoped that she would've made a lot more effort than just to go out and drink all the time. Sometimes, she's even come home with a bunch of money, a lot more money than anyone will ever make in matters of four hours.

Anyone who wasn't a child and stupid would know that she already started selling her body away.

I was still in school, still had to wake up everyday to get my little brother dressed for school and clean all the bottles from the kitchen before he sees it. While he's asleep, hell usually breaks out at home, but whenever he's near, it's like nothing happened. Like everything was fine, which it wasn't.

It wasn't until three months after that we started noticing the lack of food in our fridge. Things breaking apart and people knocking on our door, warning us about no electricity if we didn't pay in time.

I went out, handed out resumes, but no one in this dumb town needed employees making it hundred times harder for me.

"I'm hungry, sis." My little brother would moan, every day he came home from school. I would make him something if we had, if we didn't...well then I had to do what I'm about to do now.

The package of bread looked so yummy on the shelves. If I succeed, I will enjoy it when I get home. But for now, I had to move over to the ham section.

There wasn't a lot of people around, however, it was really quiet, so any strange movements could cause suspiciousness.

In situation, suspiciousness was the least anyone wanted.

I checked left and right, and even up and down to see if any eyes were on me, before I reached out for the pack of freshly cut ham in front of me. My fingertips almost touched the pack when soft hands wrapped themselves around my wrist with a firm grip.

I quickly looked up to the source of the hand, only to stare deeply into a pair of green eyes, that unfortunately belonged to a beautiful young man. His hair was the shade of peanuts and his face structure looked like it came straight out of a magazine.

He didn't say a thing, only stared at me. Quickly, I recovered from the little moment we had and snatched my arm away from him. However before I could turn around and walk away, he had already snatched the backpack, involving stolen content, and walked away with it. Thinking he was going to snitch, I attempted to walk out of the store when his hand grabbed mine.

He threw the backpack on the counter, and surprisingly, he pulled out his wallet and threw in $20. The cashier smiled at us, and then handed him back the change. And to make matters weirder, the guy actually put the rest of his change in my backpack, before dragging me out of the store.

The cold air bit my bare arms as we got out of the store. The stars were quite visible and the streets that used to be so busy, was no vacant. The guy stretched out his hand and gave me the backpack, "Here"

"Why did you do that?" I asked.

The guy shrugged, "God told us to do a good deed. I guess that was my good deed for today." He simply told before pulling his hood over his head and walking away.
