20 - your fears

We arrived at our destination two hours later, walking with our bags slung around our shoulder, hands attached to each other's. I expected a day at the beach, but as soon as we got to the beach, we were greeted by a frowning Isabella.

"Hey, Bella!" I called, the rest of us right behind me. They all slumped their bags containing bathing suits and towels, on the ground. When Isabella barely acknowledged us, I pressed my eyebrows together.

I looked over at Adeline, who was one of the first to arrive at the beach along with Bella. I gave her a look that asked what's wrong, but she only gave me a glare that signalized that she wasn't very happy either.

"Why so sad?" Caroline asked, noticing the heavy tension.

I shrugged and nodded towards the two girls in front of me who was lazily slumped against the table, their hands supporting their heads. Isabella didn't even look at us, she looked like she was bored to death.

I sent glares with the rest of the three girls behind me, and they all mirrored my confused expression in response.

Suddenly, Isabella grabbed tightly onto the table and sighed, "I think I'm just going to head home,"

Anne looked at me and then back at Isabella, who was now picking up her bag from the ground. "What, why?"

Guessing Bella's back was heavy, she was almost whipping forward but on good reflexes, Adeline grabbed her before she could collapse with the floor. "We've been waiting here for two hours. It's okay if you guys are late once or twice, but when it happens every time for usual reasons, we can't handle it anymore." She snapped.

I put my hands up in surrender, "Okay, sue me for not hearing the alarm,"

"You say that every time," She retorted, a little too sassy.

"Maybe because it happens every time," I respond, raising my voice at the first word.

I noticed Isabella glancing over in my direction but quickly looked away. Adeline shook her head, a smile visible on her lips. It wasn't a happy smile, it was the –you-are-hopeless- type of smile, and even if I don't get offended by things like these, I couldn't help but feel like I had just been stabbed.

"Just drop it. You guys have fun." Adeline exclaimed, her arms still wrapped around Isabella's waist.

They were about to turn around, but like the stubborn person I was born, I grabbed Adeline's arm and yanked her back before they could leave. I made sure to not do it all too hardly but the amount of annoyance in her eyes clearly stated that even the action got on her nerves. Regardless of the scary face, I spoke out my feelings - "No, you're telling me, I woke up early in the morning, got ready, got excited, for nothing."

"Leave it, Caroline." She hissed.

"No, I will not!"

Sabrina squeezed her way through me and Anne, "Yeah, I don't understand why you're getting so worked up over this,"

Unexpectedly, Isabella turned around as well after having her back turned to us the entire time, her eyes fuming with anger. "You guys don't get it do you?"

As if this couldn't even get any weirder, Adeline had to lean in and whisper something that sounded like, "Don't, Bella. You don't have enough energy for this,"

The hand that was placed on Bella's shoulder was quickly pushed away, as Bella stormed her way closer to us. It was clear that she had been growing annoying the entire time I had confronted Adeline, and this was the moment she finally broke out.
