9 - what you ate today

"Do you really have to go though?" I asked, as I took a seat on one of his suitcases.

Elliot gave me an apologetic look, and nodded, "My dad wants me there for their wedding, I can't do anything about it."

Elliot was my boyfriend of two years. He has been there for me through thick and thin, always there right next to me. Of course, we'd have days where we would hang with our own friends and do our own jobs, because clingy couples are the most disgusting ones, right?

But even if we weren't there physically, our hearts were both connected by a string of love, and it was nice to know that if anything happened, he could get there in less than a minute.

Now that I've been used to that, it was weird to let him leave for two months, to the other side of the world, for his dads wedding. He wanted to bring me, and his dad even invited me, but considering I had work and students to teach, I couldn't leave with him.

"I'll be back though and I'll give you a call every single day, I promise." Elliot explained, giving me a smile. His smile was so warm that even in the coldest day, just a picture of it would warm me up.

"Just go already." I waved him off, but my lips twitched, a smile ready to break out.

He laughs, as he leans in and gives me a soft peck on my forehead. He slowly retorts back, away from my embrace, and ruffles my hair jokingly, "I'll see you in two months then,"

Little did I know that he had literally just meant it. When he had promised to text me and call me every single day for two months, it was all just a lie.

He didn't call once.

He didn't text once.

And I understand that a clingy girlfriend can be annoying, and calling each other every single day isn't as easy when you're busy helping your dad out, but maybe a little warning or a little disclaimer would be fine.

At some point in those two months, I actually thought something had happened to him and I fell worried. That was until I saw a picture of him from the wedding, posing next to his father and his step - mother. Luckily, there wasn't any girls involved in the picture, so except for breaking the promise, there was nothing else to be mad for.

I guess I was just kind of disappointed, and not really mad.

It was Monday. Two months later, and I was currently on the way to a Christmas gathering at Kendall's house. Kendall was a very close friend of both me and Elliot, but more in my presence.

Once I got to her place, she greeted me with a huge bear hug considering both of us had been so busy, living our own life's, not being able to find a perfect date to hang out like this.

Christmas time came around every year with joy and laughter, but this year would be a little less joyful. I heard Elliot was back in town, and that he was in fact invited to the Christmas gathering as well, but being the disappointed girlfriend, I didn't feel like talking to him.

So when he walked into the room, looking all gorgeous like always, his hair cutely fixed in his button up and a pair of black pants, and a silver watch that topped everything, I turned my back and ignored his smile.
