There was a knock on the front door. Alison DiLaurentis opened it and her neighbor and best friend stood in front of her. She smiled at her. "Good morning, Spence."

"Morning, Ali," she said, giving her a half hug as they both got to the sidewalk. "Cute outfit. Excited for the first day of school?"

"Waking up early is not really my motto. But I missed seeing you guys on the break."

"How was Cape May, by the way? Melissa and her boyfriend were there for a couple of weeks."

"I actually came across them. Ian taught me how to play golf."

"Oh, that's cool. It shouldn't have been hard for you since we play field hockey."

"Right?" Ali blushed and looked up at the rising sun. Cape May had been fun until, well, an older guy started flirting on her.

Alison grabbed a golf stick and positioned.

"You're doing it wrong," someone said behind her--right when she was about to hit the ball.

She turned around and looked at the guy. "I know what I'm doing. Ian, right?"

"Yes, Ian." He approached her and got behind her back, putting his hand on her waist and running his other hand on her arm. "Just kneel a little and hit. It'd help if you weren't so tense."

Alison had never felt so uncomfortable. She knew a guy helping her with golf was supposed to be romantic or whatever, but she had hated every moment of it, not to mention she had been doing exactly what Ian said before he "helped" her.

"It would help if you'd get off me and go back to your girlfriend," Ali answered, feeling his breath on her neck, giving her goosebumps and not of the good kind. Terrified kind.

"I'm just trying to help. I'm working as a golf coach."

"Good for you." She tried getting him off her, but now both his arms were pressed tightly around her body. "Shouldn't you offer help to someone who actually needs it?"

"To me, it looked like you did."

"Can you let me go!?" Alison finally snapped.

Taken by surprise, he took a step back. "Woah, I'm just doing my job."

"Do it somewhere else."

"I'm a golf coach..." He grinned wickedly. "Shouldn't I be on the golf field?"

"Fine, then I'll go." She stuffed the golf stick with the others and began walking away, but Ian grabbed her arm.

"I'll see you around."

Too scared to answer, she shook his hand away and left.

"Speaking of field hockey," Alison continued. "I can't wait to play this year."

"Me too, it's going to be our best season."

"Anything I missed while being gone?"

"Nothing major that I can remember."

"C'mon, Spence, you remember everything."

"Exactly. I spent a lot of time in the pool and taking summer classes for fun."

"I would ask who would take classes on vacations and for fun, but I'm looking right at her."

Her friend giggled. "The life of a Hastings. Now let's get in already."

Alison stepped in Rosewood Day and she had a lot of eyes on her. A lot of people said she was beautiful and her mom told her she should enjoy that appreciation, use it to her advantage, but after what happened with Ian, she didn't really want anyone looking at her in a... hungry way.
