The next morning, Alison woke up early to pick up Emily up from school. When she saw her on her doorstep, she wasn't afraid to kiss her. They walked together towards school, talking about these crazy last few days.

"So... Emmy," Ali said, her last word sounding more like a question. She had noticed Emily's parents called her that when she first went to the Fields' household, but she'd never said herself. She wasn't sure why. She could have easily mocked it, but she hadn't. Maybe she had liked it herself, but never dared to use it because maybe it was too... intimate. But now they are intimate.

Emily glanced at her. "Dad calls me that since I was little."

"It's cute..." Ali put a strand of hair behind her ear shyly. "Emmy."

Emily grinned at her. Usually, she wasn't too fond of the nickname, but she'd heard it all her life, she even called herself Emmy. And now hearing it in Alison's soft and pretty voice was making her stomach do flips.

"Hey!" Spencer greeted them by the school's entrance. "How are my favorite gal pals?"

Alison hit her playfully on the shoulder.

"Gal pals?" Emily repeated. "Friends who are girls?"

Ali giggled. "Never change."

"Is it something dirty again?"

"No," Spencer answered. "Don't worry about it."

Alison stopped Emily with her arm and whispered with hot breath, "Secret lesbian lovers."

Emmy gasped, her cheeks red. "That shouldn't be called that!"

Both Ali and Spencer laughed and then they had to say goodbye, having different classes.

Emily, Alison, Spencer, Hanna and Aria sat at their usual table at the cafeteria. Emily and Alison sat closely next to each, their shoulders touching. Spencer enjoyed her juice from a carton box. Hanna spoke about how shitty the food was here and how she was thinking of putting a petition so this "matter" changes.
"I don't think it would pull through..." Aria said.

"Yeah," Spencer agreed. "The authorities here don't eat from here. They have a teacher's lounge."

"Who cares about teachers?" Ali argued lazily. "All the students want better food."

Hanna high-fived Alison. "You get me. You should totally be president."

Emily gazed at Ali, considering. "You would kick butt."

Alison giggled at Emmy not saying butt.

Someone cleared his throat loudly behind her, making them all turn around. "Hey, Emily," a guy from the swim team said. "Can I have a word with you?"

Emily looked insecurely at Ali and then back at him. It would be rude to refuse, right? She felt a hand on her knee, as if Ali was trying to stop her from replying.

"Whatever you have to say to Emily, you can say it in front of her friends. Right, Em?"

"Right."

"Well." He put his hands on his pathetic jeans' pockets and looked at Emily. "I wanted to ask you out."

"Uh-"

Suddenly, Alison placed her hands on Emily's cheeks and kissed her hard. Everyone in the cafeteria gasped.

Spencer sipped her drink simultaneously, wanting to chuckle at the guy's face.

Alison pulled away, returning Emily's calm gaze for a moment. Then she stood up, exclaiming. "Rumor's over. Emily loves me and I love her. Now stop obsessing over her 'cause y'all never had a chance anyway." She sat back down and noticed the guy was still there. "Bye?"

Dumbfounded, he backed away, as if he had never seen two girls kiss.

Alison scoffed, though she wanted to ask Emily if what she had done was okay with her. Too late, huh? But it's easier to ask for forgiveness sometimes.

Hanna had her mouth open. "You gays are gay?"

"That's so cute!" Aria clasped her hands together, daydreaming. "I can totally see how you fell in love!"

"Y-you do?" Emily asked, feeling in a bright spotlight.

"Mhm!" Aria gushed, acting like a seer. "Your love comes from the purest form: friendship, meaning you'll last. Since you're more emotional, you totally told Ali your feelings first."

"But Ali made the first move, right?" Hanna said excitedly, having a new relationship to obsess over.

"Hmm..." Alison looked at Emily. "I did take you out... but you kissed me." She peered at her friends. "She's the best kisser ever, by the way."

Emmy blushed harder, her friends awwing at her. All of them were smiling so widely while the rest of the world peeked, wishing they would know what they were missing.
