The next morning, Alison and Emily were making their way home after the best night of their lives. "How was that your first kiss?" Ali asked. "You were so good. Is that a lesbian thing?"

"I don't know, is it?" Emily had no idea about lesbian stereotypes, but one thing she knew was she was hella gay. It was like Ali had given her the courage to completely accept it and feel more comfortable about it.

"We'll figure everything out," Ali reassured her, always reading Emily's thoughts.

Emmy nodded and then changed subjects, deciding to worry about something else. "I can't believe we have school."

"Are you sure you don't wanna skip?"

"Yeah... Also, didn't your mom tell you that you couldn't skip anymore?"

"She says a lot things, but doesn't do much."

"Hmm... My mom would probably-" Emily paused. "Oh, crap."

"What?"

"I didn't tell my mom I was going out yesterday and I didn't bring my cellphone."

"Oh, fuck. Bet your mom has a search party going."

"It's not time to be joking, Ali."

"I'm not! She'd definitely do that."

"That's not the point." Emily tried processing the situation. "Well, I guess we're close to my house now."

"Yeah, no need to panic."

"But what do I say when I arrive?"

"You came to my house to study, but we fell asleep."

"That's a lie."

"We did fall asleep, though. Half truth..."

"Half lie," Emily concluded. She hated lying, but her mom would probably faint if she found out Emily went to the middle of nowhere and kissed a girl.

"Do I drop you at your doorstep or a block away?" Alison asked now that they were closer.

"A block away, I guess."

"Okie dokie." Ali stopped the car and looked at Emily, smiling. She took her cheek with one hand and brought her in, pecking her lips. "Good luck."

"Thank you." Emily's heartbeat calmed down a little. She hadn't realized it had been racing because of her nerves. Alison's kisses... she wanted more of them. But she had to go. "See you in school?" she tried.

Alison considered it. She did want to see Emily later. "Maybe I'll make it to fourth period."

"I guess I'll have to find out," Emily said, her voice sounding teasing. She leaned towards Alison and instead of kissing her lips, she kissed her cheek. She remained still next to her. "But I better see you there."

Then Emily hopped off the pickup truck, leaving Alison speechless yet again. Who was this Emily Fields and what had she done to her shy little Em? Maybe this side had been dying to come out for a while, but hadn't had the chance until now.

Well, Alison hadn't been sure about her feelings one hundred percent until Emily kissed her. And instead of being flirty, Alison's soft side had surfaced, something that hadn't happened with any guy. Or anyone but Emily, really.

Emily walked into her house to be welcomed by her mother with crossed arms. She didn't felt as scared thanks to Ali, but she was still scared. "Hi-"

"Where have you been, Emily Catherine Fields?"

"Um..."

"You weren't with a boy, were you?"

"Ugh, no. I went to Ali's house to study for a test. I fell asleep there."

"And you couldn't text me?"

"I forgot my phone."

"Yeah, I figured... after trying to call it a billion times. You didn't think I would worry?"

"...I'm sorry," Emily apologized, even though she didn't regret it. Last night had been amazing. "I know you want to scold me, but I should really get ready for school."

"Fine. Go, I'll make you breakfast."

"Thanks, mom."

Alison parked on her driveway. Instantly, Jason--who was sitting on the porch--came towards her.

"You stole my truck?" he yelled. He sounded drunk, even though it was like seven in the morning.

Alison got out, walking towards her house. "Seems like it." She returned his keys, as if nothing had happened, and proceeded to open the door. "Aren't you supposed to not be, like, here?"

"Aren't you supposed to be not old enough to drive?"

Alison entered and turned around to look at him. "Touché."

"Don't you have school?"

"Bye!" Alison closed the door on his face, waving her fingers as if they were drumsticks.

She swiveled around to find her mom with crossed arms. "Fuck."
