Chapter 9
Riley stared into space while the car was moving; Cody was apparently driving his car into the endless traffic of the city. They had just been on the airport to see off Riley's mom who had just departed a while ago.
Cody noticed he'd been quiet the whole trip and he drove a little slower and careful than he used to. Riley's things were at the back of the car and it was quite few; just some packed boxes and a single backpack were the only things he brought with him.
Recalling the past few days, the three of them had a wonderful dinner; his mom eventually agreed into him living with Cody -it was the plan. And she didn't have a problem with it as long as Riley was safe and she knows he's living in a comfortable place.
They had a few chats later then and Cody told how wonderful his mom is and everything goes straight as they planned.
It was getting dark now, sun was almost setting and Riley felt very tired today. It had been a day and he remembered his mom, hugging him very tightly at the airport. He felt very emotional that she was going but she said she'd visit soon enough or she'd take him at least some day to New York for him to visit.
When they got to the block, Cody slowly pulled the car to stop in the parking lot inside. They both opened up the car door and carried the things.
"Are you sure these are only your things?" Cody asked, holding one of the boxes.
"Yep," Riley nodded. Cody refused for him to hold the heavy boxes so he was just holding his backpack and a few of some light things. It was really irrational and Riley wondered why, but he just didn't mind it anymore.
They both walked straight up to the elevators of the apartment. It was Sunday tomorrow and they had plenty of time to fix Riley's things first.
They got to the unit's floor and they took their steps as they approach the front of the apartment. Riley opens up the door since Cody was full of carrying the box. He goes straight up to the foyer and to the living room, gazing around the whole area.
It's been already a week ever since he first visited this place and this is the second time he's visiting again. He still can't help but to be amazed how astonishing the apartment is. Rich kids have it all, as they say. But he didn't agreed to live here just because it would look 'cool' on him; and Cody knows the reason he's here right now.
He walked around the whole area, looking around and it was still plain and empty as ever; only expensive furniture and electronics. And then it caught his eye when he noticed Cody walking straight down the hallway so he decided to look and followed him.
It was only a single door that leads to a big master bedroom with an en suite. Cody placed the box on the bedroom floor-carpet and Riley carefully peeked on the half-opened door. The door creaked and Cody glanced back and he noticed that he was here.
"Is this your room?" Riley asked.
"Yeah," Cody answers back.
"Cool," he entered and glanced at the room. It was as big as the living room with a sitting lounge at the corner and an arch leading to the walk in closet before connecting it to the bathroom. Riley didn't dare to ask why the walls were also bare.
"So, um... where do I sleep then?" Riley asked.
"Here, in my room," Cody stated.
His eyes grew wide. "What? Are you kidding me?"
