Your POV
You wake up to someone poking you. You groan and try to roll over. The poking does not stop. "What?" you ask groggily.
"Get up, (Y/N)! We're going to be late for Potions!" Lily said frantically.
You hopped up out of bed, threw on your uniform, and quickly looked in the mirror. Your (H/C) hair was frizzy and you had a bad case of bed head, but there was no time to brush it.
"Oh yes, it'd be an absolute shame if we got thrown out of the Slug Club," you replied sarcastically.
"Come on, the parties aren't that bad!" Lily groaned.
In response, you cast her a look that caused her to rapidly change the subject. Your dislike of the Slug Club parties were obvious, and you were sure that you were in for another year of them.
"Well, we missed breakfast!" Lily passed you your school bag as you sprinted out of the room.
"What?!? I can't go till lunchtime with no food! That's like four hours!"
Lily laughed at that, thinking that four hours didn't seem that long. You two sprinted out of the portrait hole, never slowing until you reached the dungeon classroom.
You were both out of breath as you entered the classroom. Surprisingly, you were not late. The bad side to not showing up early was that there were only two seats left. One, at a table filled with Ravenclaws. The other, at a table with the Marauders.
Lily cast you a look, causing you to say, "I know, I know." You walked toward the table with your fellow Gryffindors. Lily muttered a thanks, blushing a little, as you sat down between Lupin and Potter.
"Hey, (Y/N)," James said once you sat down. "Why isn't Lily sitting here? We saved her a seat!"
"I think you can answer that question yourself," you replied in an even tone.
He smiled. "Ohh, right. She's too nervous to be near me." James tried to catch Lily's eye from across the room, but she cautiously avoided his gaze.
You just raise your eyebrows at him and reply, "You're even stupider than you look. She doesn't fancy you!"
James just winked at you saying, "Right. That's what she told you to say."
You roll your eyes and turn away. Remus smiled and stifled a laugh at the conversation. You couldn't help but feel that same pang in your heart at this as you did yesterday. Now you realized how he looked different: his eyes seemed to sparkle more, his smile seemed brighter, and you actually found him a bit attractive.
Did I just call Remus Lupin attractive? you thought to yourself. It wasn't possible for you to like him, after all you and Lily both hated the Marauders. Also, he was a bit of a rival in your classes. You mentally shook yourself, pushing away that feeling.
Professor Slughorn walked into the classroom, signaling the start of class. He gave some of his favorite students, including you, Remus, and Lily, a smile and nod. You returned the smile. Now was the time to focus on Potions, not be thinking about boys.
