                                    Your POV
The castle doors opened, allowing you and Lily inside. Knowing the way by heart, you started walking to the Gryffindor Common Room. The staircases seemed to move in your favor, rather than disrupting your pathway. Your heart fluttered as you reached the portrait hole, mind wandering to the potential ways Remus could ask you to the dance.
"Password?" the Fat Lady inquired.
"Amaryllis!" The smile on your face shone as you stepped in through the portrait hole, a spring in your step present. Giving you a quick wink and a knowing smile, Lily quickly withdrew from the Common Room, racing up the stairs to your dormitory. Remus sat by the fire, absorbed in a book. This drew a bit of confusion, for you wondered how he would romantically ask you to the dance as he read. Sitting down opposite him, you waited for something grand to happen. His green eyes finally met your (E/C) eyes and his widened.
Remus' face blanched as he stuttered, "(F/N)- you weren't supposed to get back till later! Lily said three o'clock!" Remus' eyes left yours to go find the large clock in the room. "It's onl- oh." His face reddened with embarrassment and self-disappointment as he dropped his gaze to his lap.
You started to giggle, unable to help yourself due to the huge failure of the proposal. His attention back on you, Remus stared in utter confusion. "(Y/N)? I-I'm really sorry about this," Remus started tentatively. "I was going to plan something- you know, to ask you to the dance, but I kind of lost track of time." He was still confused by your outburst of laughter.
You smiled at him and replied, "It's such a fitting way for you to make a mistake- losing track of time because of a book. And don't worry- I'm not at all mad. As long as we go together to the dance I'll be happy."
"So- erm- do you want to go the the dance together?" Remus asked awkwardly.
"Of course!" Still beaming, you hugged him tightly.
He murmured in your ear, "I can't wait, (F/N). And again, I really am sorry. This was definitely a failure." You could hear his half-smile, half-grimace in his voice as he spoke.
"It's okay, Remus. I guess I still love you," you replied mockingly. You kissed him on the cheek before heading up to meet Lily in you dormitory. She would certainly be asking you about Remus' proposal shortly.

The night of the Spring Dance arrived. Shortly after dinner, you and Lily had disappeared into your dormitory to begin getting ready. Those few hours consisted of multiple hair potions being splashed around, makeup being slapped on, and dresses being squeezed into. Now, you and Lily were glowing. Literally. Choosing a dewy and formal makeup look with golden eyeshadow, you kept your hair simple. It was up in a high ponytail, sleek and straight, extending down your back.
Lily looked flawless as well. She had opted for a sultry winged eyeliner, complementing her large green eyes. The top of her hair was in a half-updo, the remainder of her hair in soft waves. A final spritz of perfume and you two were ready to go.
You and Lily had planned to meet your dates outside the Great Hall. Lily was going with a Ravenclaw boy from her Arithmancy class, simply to annoy James. The Ravenclaw had asked her to the dance in the midst of James doing the same, and Lily hadn't hesitated in the slightest.
You and Lily walked to your destination, drawing admiring glances from other students who would be attending the dance. You made your way down the final staircase, locking your eyes on Remus. His head was turned, currently in a conversation with Lily's date. The Ravenclaw boy smiled at Lily, raising his eyebrows suggestively as his eyes traveled up and down. Lily groaned, instantly regretting her decision to go with him. She weakly forced a smile back to the boy.
And then Remus turned around.
Time slowed to a crawl as your eyes locked onto his. You saw his eyes widen. A small smile on your face, you finally reached him at the foot of the stairs. All he managed to say was, "Wow."
An expression of wonder was alight on his face, taking in all your beauty. "You look amazing," he added slowly.
"You do too," you replied. And it was true. He was wearing simple black dress pants, a white button down that he had rolled up to his elbows, and a red bow tie that matched your dress. He had already taken off his dress robes, in favor of the more casual look.
Remus simply dressing up had you intoxicated.
Meanwhile, Lily was looking less than pleased. The Ravenclaw boy had placed his arm around Lily's waist in a tight cinch. He had a smug, triumphant expression on his face. "M'name's Callum. I don' think we've met b'fore," the boy said with a thick accent.
"It's nice to meet you," you politely replied. "Well, let's go in." Awkwardly turning away from Callum and Lily, you grabbed Remus' arm and walked inside the Great Hall.
