I laid on the floor. Blood was everywhere. My entire body was sore. I knew exactly how I got here.

But it's not how you think. This is a long story. The most painful part was lying there, remembering how and why I was beaten. I hoped - no, prayed- my roommate would get back soon. I knew it probably wouldn't happen. She was out bowling, but it should be over by now .

I was bleeding badly. I feared she would get back. Oh God! Save me! Save me please don't let her kill me! I feared my prayers would go unanswered. I just knew it. I'm dying. There's nothing that could save me. The footsteps got closer. God please! Don't let it be her! I'll believe in you again! Her silhouette got closer. I'm going to die.

"Thanks for the ride, Amethyst."

"Anytime you need me. What time should I pick you up?"

"Be back in about half an hour. I should be done."

"OK. See ya sweetie." Amethyst pulled off. I stood in front of the Apartment building of the person who was looking for a new roommate. I took a deep breath and walked inside. It was a large building so there was an elevator. I went inside and my body immediately tensed. I feared the elevator. But I was late so I couldn't take the stairs. I pushed for the seventh floor. I nearly pissed myself when it went up, though I didn't have to pee at all. What I didn't expect more was when it went down. I started hyperventilating, even though it only lasted a few seconds. Then I quickly stepped off. I walked away from the the elevator in fear. That's the last time that's happening.

I had finally arrived at apartment 4b. I knocked on the door. I was a little thankful for the elevator. It just turned 3:00. I arrived right on time.

The door quickly swung open. "Right on time! Perfect!" Oh great, I thought, one of those people. "I'm Pearl Quartz." We shook hands. She put her arm out to guide me to a kitchen counter with chairs by it, making it look like a bar. Or a diner.

"Sooo" she glanced at her paper, "Lapis Lazuli, tell me a little about yourself."

"Well I'm nineteen. I have a waiting job and I'm currently attending college. I moved from Arizona a few years back and I currently live with a friend."

"Uh huh. Are you a smoker?"

"No."

"Drinker?"

"No."

"Have you ever been arrested?"

"Never."

"Will you be able to pay at least two bills a month?"

"Yes."

"Have you ever been evicted?"

"No."

"Do you have a history of being dangerous."

"No."

"Great." She had a little smile as she checked off some boxes. "Well let me show you around."

She showed me a nice sized bathroom, along with the kitchen, her bedroom, my potential bedroom, and the hallway - which wouldn't be important had she not have an aquarium there. She talked a lot while giving me the tour.

"I'll give you a call. Goodbye now."

"Goodbye." We shook hands, then I walked outside. It had been about forty five minutes and amethyst was a little pissed.

"You said half an hour." she complained.

"She was more talkative than I thought."

Amethyst did a light huff then started the engine. "Next time I won't wait around." she joked. At least, I think she did.
