It has been two weeks since I met Jasper. She was fun, outgoing, charming, and a sweet talker. She came back later that day to help me with the rest of my stuff Peridot brought over. She didn't talk too much, and since I had no one else to talk to, I had called Jasper. She helped with the rest of my things and we stayed up talking on the phone. Now here we are. Two weeks later. I stared at her number.

It was nighttime. The leaves on the trees where whistling. I kept hearing strange noises outside. It freaked me out a little bit, considering I had always been skeptical about everything. All I thought was that I wanted Jasper here. Pearl didn't really like noise, but considering that we never went on a real date, I called her. It was only 10:30 and I have the day off tomorrow. I called Jasper.

"Hello?" she didn't sound tired.

"Hey. Um, do you want to get something to eat? I can't sleep and we never hung out much-"

"Are you asking me out on a date?" she chuckled.

"Yeah, something like that. I know this is last minute but-"

"No, you're fine. Get ready. I'll be outside your door in a few minutes."

"OK."

We hung up and I quickly got ready. My heart was racing and a million thoughts rushed through my head. What if I say something wrong? Will she still like me? Do I have to be romantic? What do I do?!! I took a few deep breaths. We're just keeping it casual.

I put on some blue jeans and a plain white tee with blue edges, along with white shoes with black outlines and black laces, then brushed my hair back. She should be out there. I quietly walked out of the apartment to and shut the door slowly with one hand on the doorknob and the other on the door, careful not to wake a sleeping Pearl. She walked up to me and put her hand on my shoulder. I jumped and nearly shouted when she did that.

"Are you crazy?!" I whisper yelled.

"Sorry, it just seemed fun to scare you." she chuckled again. For some reason when she does that I can't help but giggle.

"Do you know any good places?" I asked once we started walking down the hall.

"There's a nice fast food joint a few blocks down from here. Do you want to walk or do you want me to drive you?"

"We can walk. It feels nice outside."

"OK."

I froze when she stopped in front of the elevator and pushed the button to call it. But when she turned and saw my face, she took a few steps away from it.

"Are you afraid of elevators?"

"It's a big fear."

"Uh, it's fine. We'll just take the stairs." She put her arms out towards the stairs , as if she were offering me to go first. She walked behind me, and we talked a little about fears. She admitted that she was scared of spiders because her mom was once bitten by a Black Widow and she nearly died. She was also afraid of drowning, even though she was taught how to swim. She hasn't swam since she was twelve, after her sister thought it would be funny to see how long she could keep Jasper under water until she stopped fighting. According to Jasper, her sister was never punished. She was just told not to be around her anymore. Jasper told me she suffered hell until her sister moved out, but then it was abandonment when her parents barely talk to her, but instead talked to and helped her sister through college. I held Jasper close. I then told her about my fears.

"I'm afraid of elevators because the feeling reminds me of my childhood. My dad was a drunk and he used to shake me and hit me when I was young. The elevator just... the movement makes me feel like that again. He was so abusive to me and my mom. But my sister Aquamarine didn't suffer. My mom sent her away to live with my aunt because she felt I was gonna 'drag her down' . Until I was eighteen, I tried to avoid my parents as much as possible. My mom liked calling me names and calling me ugly. I was excited when I turned 18, then I moved to a few cities away to live with Amethyst. "

"Amethyst? Amethyst Wind?"

"Yeah. You know her?"

"I should. She's was my best friend since grade school."

"She never mentioned she knew you when I told you about her."

"We're not close anymore. We fell out a while back and we don't talk much more."

"Oh. Why's that?

She was about to say, but then she stopped. "We're here."

Hey guys. This part carries out to the next chapter. To be continued...
