Eighteen Years Later
Laila and London were sitting in the swing of the front porch when London's phone started to ring.
Kensi McKuffey
"Hey, Kens. What's up?"
Hi, Dad. You know I petitioned the medical board to get my records released to see who's heart I got?
"Yeah."
I won. And I have them right now, and I'm on my way over. I just need to stop and pick up Nicky.
"Ok. See you soon, sweetie!"
London hung up the phone and told Laila.
(Twenty Minutes Later)
London & Laila were still swinging when Kensi & Nicky pulled in.
They sat across from their parents, and Kensi handed the folder to her dad.
"Why are you handing it to me?"
"Just read it." Kensi smiled, with one tear rolling down her cheek.
London was confused, but opened the manilla envelope.
"Cause of Death: Severe head trauma brought on by a head-on collision.
Name:......"
London was now in tears.
Robby never made it to the Christmas party. He was hit head on by a drunk driver.
"Name: Robert Creasey.
Recipient: Kensi Dana McKuffey."
"Daddy, I got Uncle Robby's heart."
London gave his daughter a hug, and listened to his best friend's heart beating inside of her chest.
Laila and Nicky too were in tears.
