Working at Ursula's Fish 'n Chips isn't the best job. Carmalita only does it because her mother makes her, and she hates it.

She hates for different reasons; one being that the pay sucks, twobeing because Uma always puts her work off on her, and three because Carmalita doesn't like to talk to people. It's nothing personal, she just doesn't like talking to certain people.

Everyone knows that, but it's not like they care. Most just put pressure on her to talk, making comparisons to Ariel and calling her Shrimpy. After Mal had given Uma that name, she had put it upon herself to pass it down to her.

The loud footsteps of Harry Hook made her look up from her sweeping, quickly moving out of his way.

She watched him shove some costumer out of his chair before using it to step over to the other side of the counter.

Not soon after, Uma appeared from the kitchen, tossing a tray of (only slightly) old fish bites in front of a Harry.

Carmalita cringed in disgust as he hooked a piece before popping the slimy thing into his mouth. Seafood was never her favorite food, especially not the food they served here.

Everyone focused their attention Uma as she took a hand full of food and threw it at the TV. On the screen was a live video of Mal and King Ben talking to some press about the upcoming Catilian.

What Carmalita wouldn't give to be there, in Auradon, and away from this hell hole. When Ben had brought Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos over to Auradon, she, along with everyone else, had assumed he would bring more. Guess they were wrong.

"That poser," Uma sneered, leaning against the table in front of her.
You
"Traitor!," Harry declared loudly.

Uma waited, frowning when no one joined in. "Hello?!?" That got their attention and everyone began to throw their food at the television.

Carmalita mentally groaned and rolled her eyes. More sweeping for her.

There was another silence and she looked up.

Uma thunked Gil on the back of his head, making him jump.

"Gil, you wanna stop choking down yokes and get with the program?," She asked. Gil swallowed, nodding along.

"Yeah... what they said,"

Uma sighed and turned to face everyone.

"That little traitor, who left us in the dirt," She slammed her first against the table.

"Who turned her back on you," Harry popped another fish bite into his mouth.

"And said that you weren't big or bad enough to be in her gang!,"

Everyone tensed at Gil's words, and Uma whipped around to face him.

Carmalita silently wished he would keep quiet.

He didn't.

He walked over to the group with a new tray of food, not notcing the annoyed look from his captain and her first mate.

"Back when we were kids? C'mon, you guys remember! She called her Shrimpy and the name just kind of-," Uma gave him a look. "Stuck,"

Uma let out a breath through her nose and turned to Harry. "That snoody little witch, who grabbed everything she wanted and left me nothing,"

Gil spoke up again.

"No, she left you that sand box and she said that you could have it Shrimpy and that-,"

"I need you, to stop talking!,"

Harry took this moment to change the subject.

"We have her terf now, they can stay in Auradon-,"

Uma turned to him. "Harry, that's her terf now-," She pointed at the TV before turning it off. "And I want it too,"

She leaned against the counter. "We shouldn't be getting her leftovers," She gritted her teeth.

She grabbed Gil and Harry's shoulders, grinning darkly.

"Son of Hook! Son of Gaston! And most of all, me! Daughter of Ursula!,"

Carmalita rolled her eyes. Of course she wouldn't say her name. Uma never considered her a sister, always bringing up the fact the the didn't share a father.

Dr. Facilier turned out to be Carmalita's father, but not Uma's. It wasn't all bad, she got two half siblings out of it. Frank and Freddie were definitely better siblings than Uma anyway.

"What's my name?!,"

-----

After Uma's whole song and dance and their mother's appearance, Gil was put out. Again.

It was a repeating occurrence.

He never filtered his thoughts too well, always saying what was on his mind.

Carmilita had snuck away for her five minute, break while Uma went to do the dishes.

She quietly approached the sulking boy, sitting down next to him.

He smiles slightly, resting his elbows on his bruised knees.

"Hey pearl,"

She didn't know why exactly, but Gil has called her that ever since they were kids. She's never has the courage to ask why, and she probably never will.

She smiles in response.

Gil was probably the only person who actually considered her selective mutism, never pressuring her to talk or making fun of her for it.

"Get any tips today?,"

She shook her head.

No one really gave her tips unless Uma wasn't working.

He nodded and turned to her.

He opened his mouth to say something else, but Uma came out before he could.

He stood, smiling apologetically, before looking at his Captain.

"Go back to the ship and wait for us,"

He did as told without looking back.

Carmilita frowned sadly and looked up at Uma.

"Sweep the floors, mom wants the place closed at ten,"

That was all she said before walking off towards the dock.

Rolling her eyes, she stood and went back into the restaurant to do her job.

She turned on the TV, watching as Mal and Ben dined with Aladdin and Jasime.

Maybe one day her and Gil would be like that.

Word Count- 956.

I am much happier with this chapter, lol. I think it's a lot neater than the last one. Comment any feedback you might have, don't be shy! And vote if you think I'm doing a good job with this😊.
