"So, do you want to hang out with me and Nathan this weekend," Sian asked as we drove to the pharmacy.

"What are you guys doing," I asked.

"We're just gonna hang out at his place. Probably go out to eat or something."

"Uh, sure." I never really hung out with people. I usually just stayed in my room and read or watched TV. I guess it could be fun, as long as it's just them two. My mom is gonna be happy.

We pulled up to the pharmacy and parked. I opened the door and got out. "You don't have to get out. I'll try to be quick," I said hoping she wouldn't come in the store with me.

"It's fine. I want a snack anyways." She got out of the car and began walking to the entrance.

Okay. I headed straight to the prescription pick up area and Sian went down the snack aisle. No one was in line so I went up to the counter. I gave the man my prescription and he told me it would be about 20 minutes so I took a seat on one of the chairs and waited.

Sian came and sat next to me. She had a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos and a Sprite. She pulled out a Twix bar and handed it to me. "I got you a Twix because everybody likes those."

"Thanks." I put it in my backpack. I wasn't really hungry for anything right now.

"You know, I'm surprised you haven't asked about my clothes. I mean you never even made a face at them." Sian opened up her soda and took a drink.

"I uh-it's not really any of my business. I actually think you look really cool," I said. She smiled," Thanks. Most people from out of town think it's weird."

We sat in silence. I played with the sleeves of my shirt.

I wish I knew how to have a conversation with people. She probably thinks I'm weird. I am weird. Do I talk about the weather?

No, that's fucking stupid.

How the hell do you talk to people!?

"Do you like it here? The town, I mean," Sian asked.

Oh, thank god. I love when other people initiate the conversation.

"It's really nice. I like how it's always cold." There I go, talking about the weather. Jesus.

"Isn't it cold in New York? I thought it snowed there."

"Yeah. It snows during winter and stuff but not year round, like here. It's usually just really humid there," I explained.

"Oh. You don't miss the skyscrapers or noise or anything," she asked, taking a sip of her soda.

"No. I like here way better. It's quiet and nice. The woods are my favorite, though."

She smirked," You like the woods?"

"Uh y-yeah," I stuttered. Was it weird that I liked the woods? "Good. So do Nathan and I. We have a-," she cut herself off. "You'll see."

I'll see? That wasn't vague at all.

"Jacob Matthews," the pharmacist called my name. I stood up and walked over to the counter. "Thanks," I mumbled. I unzipped my backpack at put the bag inside.

"Ready to go," Sian asked. "Yeah."

I told Sian where my house was and we were on our way.

10 minutes later, we were pulled up to my house.
