Ch.9 The Dance (Part Two)

Chase was near the ice sculptures at the entrance with the thought of leaving, yet he stayed exactly where he was.

Chase's Thoughts

I can't do this to Marshall, especially not after the blizzard. It's only a thing me and him know and he wants to keep it that way so I can't tell Skye even though it would make things a whole lot easier. It's just because he sees me as a threat in their relationship.

Why did I decide to come here exactly?

Skye: "Hey, Chase, are you okay?"

Oh right, that's why.

Chase: "Yeah, I'm fine, it's just I'd rather be at the beach...to escape it all."

Skye: "Sounds relaxing."

Chase: "It is..."

Skye: "Look, it's obvious you're not having a good time, I'm sorry."

Chase: "For what?"

Skye: "All... this." She said gesturing the whole dance. "And basically dragging you here."

Chase: "Well sort of, but I'm used to feeling this way, that's not your fault."

Skye: "But it's not entirely yours either." She sighs heavily. "I want you to enjoy the night because you deserve to."

Chase: "You say that just to comfort me."

Skye: "I guess you're right."

A couple seconds of silence go by.

Chase: "But you're kind of right too."

She smiles and looks up at him.

Skye: "Yay." She quietly cheers.

With that Skye is about to move her paw onto his but an announcer speaks through the microphone.

Announcer: "Dear couples, I would like to say that the special couples dance is in 5 minutes so make sure you and your special partner are ready for some romance."

Skye's Thoughts

Really? A special couples dance INSIDE a dance. Wow. But if I could make Chase ask me then... I could finally tell him how much he means to me, not Marshall.

I have to get out of here.

Chase: "Um... Skye, I um... need to use the restroom."

Skye: "Uh, okay? Sure."

Chase starts walking to the restroom to make it believable to Skye. And when he was out of her sight he hid behind a tree and called Marshall on his pup tag.

Chase: "Marshall, are you there?"

Marshall: "Yeah, hi lover boy."

Chase: "How soon can you get here?"

Marshall: "I've been there."

Chase: "Wait, what?!"

Marshall comes out from the tulips Mayor Goodway has planted.

Marshall: "I had to check on you somehow."

Chase: "Heh, I knew you would do something like this."

Marshall: "Well then you know me pretty good." He said with a smirk.
