Omkara was waiting for Sahil at coffee shop. He restlessly gazed at his watch , cursing Sahil for not being on time. Then he saw him walking from parking area. "You are late", he complained. Saahil rolled his eyes while pulling a chair for him. "You look like sh*t", Sahil told him. "Sleep eludes me", Omkara casually remarked scanning the menu."It will surely elude if you roam around my hospital during wee hours of night like a nocturnal creature", Sahil accused him. He knew that despite his warnings, Om came to meet Gauri last night. Omkara shrugged his shoulder brushing it off. "So what did Dr. Khan say", he asked. "About what?", Sahil feigned ignorance.
When he met Omkara's fierce glance, he had to yield, "Dr. Khan is a thorough professional,Om. He never shares his patient's case details with any one ". "Not even to you , Gauri's own doctor, Dr.Khanna. Stop kidding me", Omkara said sarcastically. "Mr. Oberoi, just to remind you, I too don't share my patients case file with anyone", Sahil was getting angry.
"I am not some outsider. I am her...I am her..."Omkara paused. "You are no one to her, Mr.Oberoi. Neither her family nor her friend. You have no right on her", Sahil threw the menu card and got up. "Sahil, please wait. I want to know. Please yaar, as a friend show some mercy on me. This is killing me", Omkara pleaded. Sahil and Omkara were old friends. He couldn't turn deaf ear to his friend's appeal.
"As a friend I would ask you to stay away from her, Om", he finally got it out. Seeing his friend's puzzled expression he continued, "Well , there is bad news and worse news. Bad news is she doesn't remember anything after the accident. Your care, your support and your companionship, she remembers nothing. If you ask me, I am not surprised.
There is nothing unusual about it. Patients in coma may not be aware of anything that happens around them". Omkara was hurt by his words, "What's could be worse that this?". "Well, there is. She remembers everything about you that happened before accident.
Needless to say she hates you to the core, I won't be surprised if she blames you for the accident too". Omkara held his forehead and sighed. Sahil kept his hands on his shoulders and said, "I am sorry, yaar. But I don't a see light at the end of this tunnel. There is only heart break for you".
Omkara was back in his room, after meeting Sahil. He relaxed in warm water in his bath tub. When did I see her first time?, he thought. Years back in college, she was his junior. They were both part of Arts club. She was a good classical singer and he was a sculptor.
He didn't know whether it was love at first sight or several sights. Her innocence, her simplicity and her puerile nature, everything about her attracted him to her. Though she had caught his eye, they didn't share a single word even after being in same club for a month.
They moved in different circles. He was a loner who seldom made new friends and Gauri was a simple shy girl. Soon she disappeared from college. He discreetly inquired about her and knew that her grandmother fell ill and she had to quit studies to take care of her Nani.
As time passed he too stopped thinking about her. He finished his studies and joined business with Shivaay. Many girls came to his life, he had his share of women in his life and Gauri faded away like a beautiful sketch he had drawn long back. Yet she still remained as a pure memory which he cherished the most.
One day when he came from office, he heard his father shouting at his mother. "You were never a good wife or a good mother. See what your immature son had done. Will you be able to fix it now?' Tej shouted. When Tej left in anger, leaving a weeping Jhanvi behind, he barged in. "Mom, what happened ?", he was anxious to know.
Between her sobs she conveyed about the meltdown between Tej and Rudra, Rudra's decision to get married to a wayward girl and how Rudra broke her heart by choosing some girl over his mother. She was devastated, she never expected this from Rudra. She still couldn't believe that Rudra, her adorable son could disown her for a some girl who came into his life recently.
