"Petal! Where were you?! I believe you promised Storm you were going to visit right when you woke up. He was worried sick!" I said.
"I... was no where,"grumbled Petal.
That's when I smelled the wild scents of the forest along with two others that I could not place. "What?! You went to the forest?! For what? I can't believe you would disobey me like that!"
"Look, I am not a kit anymore. I can take care of myself. In fact, I've met some friendly but annoying cats-nothing like the stories you told me." Petal snapped.
I was shaking with anger and nervousness. "What kind of cats?"
"Oh, just some stupid toms who just kept talking."
I stopped shaking though I was still angry at her. At least I know she didn't find Dovestar. I thought. "What did they look like?"
"Does it really make a difference? They were black and gray, now let me find Storm." Then she turned around and went to Storm's twolegs.
I gasped. Those were the same cats I saw yesterday!
I decided I was going to go to talk to Dovestar once all the litter was asleep. Things were getting rather out of paws. Then I sighed and turned back to my housefolk's den.
