One-Shots from The Bird Who Wouldn't Sing

"It all started when..."

Robin typed away at his hologlove; he seemed a bit irritated.

Wally looked up from where he was laying on Rob's lap.

"Still not working?"

Robin just huffed.

Although the technology used for his hologlove was absolutely brilliant, it was still, in a sense, a computer and computers sometimes acted up.

M'Gann walked in from the kitchen and placed a plate of cookies in front of them. As always, they were burnt to a crisp.

She sighed at the pitiful sight, knowing her cookies could only be eaten by a high metabolismed speedster.

She took a seat on one of the other sofas.

They all sat in silence for a bit; Robin trying to fix his hologlove, Wally looking about ready to fall asleep, and M'Gann taking a break from her failed baking.

"Robin, Wally, can I ask a question?" She broke the quiet. (Why does breaking the quiet sound weird when breaking the silence sounds okay?)

Wally, whose eyes had shut for a bit, couldn't help it.

"You already did."

He seemed more awake now, though he also looked proud of himself. The speedster looked up at Rob expectantly.

The other had cracked a smile and mouthed "You're so cringey" before getting back to work.

When M'Gann didn't ask her question, Wally sat up and looked at her.

"You do know I was just joking, right?"

The martian girl seemed to relax and she did her signature "Hello, Megan!"

"I've been wondering how you and Robin got together!" She paused and turned panicked, "You guys don't have to answer if you don't want to!"

Wally was tempted to comment on how that wasn't a question, but he decided against it.

"I don't mind answering," He looked over at the ebony (ebony is such a weird word), "Is it okay if I tell her?"

He asked just in case the other didn't want him to share personal matters. Robin would most likely be fine with it, but he just wanted to make sure.

As predicted, the other nodded. He stopped working on his hologlove for a bit to see how the story would begin.

"It all started.." Wally paused to add a dramatic effect, "when I took an online quiz!"

"An online quiz?" M'Gann echoed.

"Yup!" He popped the ending.

The ginger considered pulling a Robin and just leave her hanging, but thought better of it. 

He continued.

*Flashback*

A whooshing noise surprised Dick Grayson, causing him to look up from all his homework.

Not soon after the noise started, it stopped, replaced by a loud whack.

The door opened to reveal Wally West, rubbing at his forehead with one hand and holding his laptop carelessly in the other.

"Man, that hurt.." He mumbled before spotting the Boy Wonder.

"GUESS WHAT!" Wally cried out excitedly, injury forgotten, "WE'RE DATING! DIDJA KNOW THAT?!"

Dick blinked in confusion.

"We're dating?"

"Yup!" Wally plopped onto Dick's bed, causing the other (who was laying there on his stomach) and his papers to bounce.

He moved the old laptop so that they could both see the screen and he pointed.

"See?"

The younger boy did see, but that didn't explain much.

Seeing the look he was getting, Wally spoke.

"So, while browsing the vast network," Dick rolled his eyes, "I stumbled across a fortune teller who knew who I was soul mates with!" The speedster posed dramatically.

The other couldn't decide weither to roll his eyes again or laugh at his antics, so he just huffed.

The translation for what Wally said was that he was bored and he found a quiz that was supposed to tell who he was dating.

Dick looked back at the laptop screen. It said "Your Best Friend."

"I thought I'd trick it, since I'm not dating anyone and all, but man, the joke was on me! I didn't even know I was dating!"

"Neither did I," Dick signed.

"So! When should we go on our first official date?"

Dick shrugged, "You pick, though I'm pretty sure I'll end up paying."

Wally just laughed and Dick grinned.

*Flashback end*

"And that's how it was!" Wally grinned, giving Robin a peck.

Partway through the story, the other had gone back to working, though he still listened.

"That's it?" M'Gann asked. She didn't mean to sound rude or anything, she just expected... more.

The two boys live double lives as superheroes for pete's sake!

"Yeah, that's pretty much it," Wally was still grinning happily.

"Where'd you two end up going?"

"Red Robin's!" Wally seemed pretty proud.

Rob rolled his eyes at his boyfriend's horrible sense of humor. 

M'Gann didn't seem to understand, but she seemed happy enough with the answer.

Right then, Artemis walked in, "What about Red Robin's?"

"Wally was telling me how he and Robin got together," M'Gann explained.

Curious, Artemis asked, "How did you two end up together?"

Back to grinning, Wally opened his mouth.

"It all started when.."
