Liz's POV
I woke up the next morning feeling like last night was a dream but when I got downstairs I found a note that read

I'm sorry I missed you this morning sweetie but I had to go to work. I made a quick run to the grocery store earlier to just get some basic stuff for you and Travis. My shift ends at 2 but after work I have an AA meeting and then I'm going to look for a day care so we'll know Travis is in good hands if neither of us can watch him. Hopefully I'll be home about 5. If you need anything call other wise have fun with Travis and that boy (sorry I didn't catch his name) at the park today.

How did she know I was going to the park with Alex and Travis we were outside when we made those plans and she was up in her room. Ohhh her room. She has a balcony that leads out to the front of the house so she probably heard us that way.

I'm not gunna lie though her note kind of made her seem like a real mom. It seemed like she was trying. See hasn't gone to the grocery store once since Travis was born. Maybe she had changed?

No. No. Elizabeth you need to stop this. She hasn't changed. She never will. She's not a go- my thoughts were interrupted when I heard little feet coming down the stairs. I decided I would scare him a bit so I hid behind the kitchen wall. As soon as he walked into the kitchen I picked him up and spun him around. He screeched at first but once he realized it was me he just laughed. I carried him over to the couch and started tickling him until I was interrupted by the doorbell.

"Wait here." I told Travis and I got up to go to the door. When I opened it I saw Alex standing there with a blanket and a cooler. "Oh my gosh is it already time to go?"

"No in early but I figured you wouldn't want to leave Travis alone with your mom while you got ready so I came to help"

"Oh well actually she left for work already but I don't really wanna leave him completely alone so yeah actually it'd be great if you helped."

"Ok well you go up and get ready and I stay here with Travis."

"I was actually just gunna make us something to eat."

"No worries I'll make something and have it done when you get down here."

"Really? Thank you so much Alex!"

"Of course babe. I'd do anything for you."

I quickly went upstairs and showered then put on a bit of makeup and got dressed into a light blue sweater, dark skinny jeans, and white converse. When I got back downstairs I was completely amazed by what I saw. There was a stack of chocolate chip pancakes in the center of the table surrounded by bacon, sausage, eggs, fruit, and toast. I didn't even know we had any of this stuff. Mom must have picked it up this morning.

"So when are we leaving" I asked sitting next to Travis at the table

"Well this little guy still has to get dressed," he said point to Travis "but I guess when everyone's ready after we eat. So dig in"

I happily obliged grabbing two pancakes, a spoonful of eggs, and some bacon. Were going to have a lot of food left over but that's okay. Leftovers are perfect for midnight snacks.

During breakfast we talked about random things and Alex told me his mom would be dropping Emily off at the park at some time to hang out with us and play with Travis. When we finished breakfast Travis and I went upstairs to get him dressed and ready for the day while Alex partially cleaned up downstairs. I came and helped when Travis and I were done and then we got packed and headed to the park.

"So I was thinking there's this burger stand across from the park and some picnic tables around it and I thought we could go there for lunch." Alex said as we got closer to the park.

"Ugh a burger sounds great right now. I feel like I haven't had one in weeks" I said trying to remember the last time I had one.

"Alright so burgers it is" he chuckled as we pulled into the park.

I got out of the car going to the back seat to help Travis unbuckle his car seat and get out. Alex when to the other side of the car to grab the cooler. We just packed a couple waters, juices, and chips in case we got hungry or thirsty before we went for lunch.

As we got closer to the actual play area I started to recognize some things. Wow this place looks different during the day.

"What was that?" Did I say that out loud?

"Oh I just said this place looks different during the day."

"Oh so you've been here before?"

"Um yeah. Twice actually."

"Oh really. When?" His voice sounded more curious than like he was interrogating me but for some reason that's the only way it felt.

"Um i-it was t-the first and l-last time I spoke to Mikey." I said. I could tell he could hear the shakiness in my voice. I don't know why I felt nervous. I guess anything with Mikey just brings back bad memories.

"Are you okay?" Clearly he could tell something was up.

"Yeah I'm fine but can we not talk about Mikey anymore?"

"I will gladly not talk about Mikey. Um... Travis! Why don't you go an- Travis? Travis?"

"Where the hell did he go?"

"I don't know he was right here next to us."

I looked around frantically trying to find my lost brother. I ran back to the car to see if we somehow left him there but no luck. I started running around the park like a mad woman calling his name.

"LIZ"

"TRAVIS?" I yelled whipping my head around but it was only Alex.

"Liz he's over there" he said running up to me pointing towards the play area. I followed the direction of his hand til I spotted Travis going down the slide.

"Oh my god. I'm so dumb. How did I not check there?"

"I think we were both focused on the thought that he was lost and didn't think he could actually just already be having fun."

"Yeah that's probably true. So shall we sit." I asked taking his hand and motioning towards a bench to the left of us.

"Shouldn't I be asking you that?"

"Maybe but it's too late I already asked you." I said shrugging plugging him towards the bench.

A/N: finally I updated for you guys. Sorry this chapter kinda sucks and it took me forever to update I've been so lazy but I'm going to try to post the next chapter tomorrow which is gunna get a little juicy but I'm also not making any promises because as y'all can probably tell by now I suck at promises.

🚨IMPORTANT MUST READ!!!!!🚨 Last but not least I have a question. If a cheeseburger is called a cheeseburger because it has cheese in it why is a ham burger called a hamburger if it doesn't have ham in it???

Ok so that wasn't that important but I really want an answer:)
