Serena walked slowly down the hall to her shared hotel room with her brother and Lizzie. It had taken her about an hour to reach the hotel, as she hadn't been bothered to call an Uber or even a taxi. She just trekked barefoot around the city of Los Angeles, stopping only when she came to her hotel.
She was so hurt, so confused, so angry. She couldn't begin to figure out what she had done wrong. She couldn't begin to figure out what she had done to make someone want to purposely hurt her, especially after learning just how broken her last relationship had left her. It was fair. Love wasn't fair. All it did in the end was leave you in a permanent state of pain.
The tears had slowed tremendously, but altogether they had yet to stop. Serena wondered if they ever would. She couldn't remember ever feeling so hurt, but at the same time she had never loved someone so much. Tom was everything to her, while she was nothing to him. The mere thought alone refused to allow the tears to stop.
Serena dug inside her bag for her room key. She could feel the incessant vibration of her phone, but she ignored it and pulled out the small piece of plastic. She figured it was Tom trying to get a hold of her, but she didn't want to talk to him. She couldn't talk to him.
After unlocking the room, Serena made her way inside, though she stopped behind the door after shutting it. It was almost as if her legs had stopped working, but it was the least of her problems. She could feel that she was about to break down, and after holding it in for so long, she knew she wouldn't be able to stop it, so she didn't try to. Serena let her bag fall to the floor, and she slid down the back of the door, hugging her knees to her chest once she was seated. In no time, the tears started rolling, and sobs wracked her entire body. She wanted to do nothing in that moment except cry, and so that was exactly what she did.
Serena's cries were loud, however, and while Lizzie remained asleep in her shared room with Sebastian, Sebastian found himself awake the moment his sister's cries met his ears. It was a familiar sound, a familiar sound that he despised more than anything, and he didn't care waking up long enough to do something about it.
Sebastian made his way out of his bedroom and into the loft to look for Serena. He wondered why she was at their hotel rather than at Tom's with him, but the moment it registered inside his mind why exactly that was, he grew angry. The moment he noticed Serena, he ran over to her, kneeling down beside her petite form on the floor.
"Serena?"
Serena looked up at the sound of her brother's voice. The moment she saw him, the tears seemed to flow harder, and she jumped into his arms, hugging him as tightly as she could in her own.
"I'm so stupid," Serena cried. "Everyone I love only wants to hurt me."
Sebastian closed his eyes and let out a sigh, hugging Serena tighter in his arms. He didn't need to ask her for details, nor did he want to for the sake of sparing her feelings. He knew exactly what she was referring to. Better yet, she knew exactly who he was referring to, though that didn't make the situation any better. He was still angry, not to mention a bit upset, but that was only due to the fact of seeing his sister in tears. Seeing Serena in pain was never one of Sebastian's favorite things.
"I'm so sorry, baby girl."
Serena only cried harder. Sebastian swallowed the lump in his throats and hoisted his sister off of the floor. He carried we to her bedroom and placed her onto her bed, though he remained with her. He sat down beside her, and Serena immediately moved p wrap her arms around him. Sebastian was always there for her, regardless of who or what had hurt her, and although his presence didn't do very much in regards to taking away the pain, she was just happy to have him there.
"You won't ever hurt me, will you?" Serena squeaked. "Please tell me you won't hurt me. I can't lose anyone else that I love."
"No," Sebastian answered softly, rubbing the top of her head. "I would never dream of it, Rena. If I do, it will be during one of our many wrestling matches, and even then I can only try not to."
His comment managed a small laugh from Serena, which was exactly what he wanted.
"Good, because I couldn't stand to lose you, too."
"You won't lose me, kid," Sebastian assured her. "I'll always be here, whether you like it or not."
A ghost of a smile appeared on Serena's face, though it couldn't be seen in the dark. She yawned and hugged Sebastian tighter, her only solace being found in that of her brother. "Will you stay with me, please?"
"Always."
Sebastian held his sister as she drifted off to sleep. Serena had seen and felt so much pain in her young life, and Sebastian was quite tired of it. He wasn't sure how, but he was going to make sure his little sister got the happiness she deserved, and he would do anything to see it through.
