Serena watched as numerous people made their way through the large room. There were so many celebrities present, probably to see Harry and the remainder of the Dunkirk cast, and while at any normal after party, she wouldn't think of hesitating to greet everyone, but at the moment she was too occupied. Not only was the drink in her hand keeping her busy, but the thoughts inside her head were. She couldn't help but to feel envious as she watched those around her basking in their happiness, while all she could feel was a heart wrenching pain.
There were so many couples surrounding the brunette, so many happy couples, and the sight disgusted her, yet also pained her. She could remember having such happiness once, but it had been taken away from her. Everyone she ever put her faith, trust, and love in did nothing but hurt her. She wasn't sure what she kept doing wrong. She wasn't sure why she had become such a target for pain. All she knew was that she seemed to be some sort of player in a game she wanted no part of. She could not escape, however. She was stuck.
With a sigh, Serena downed the rest of her drink. She had originally though getting drunk would take away the pain she's had been fighting for days, but it only seemed to make things worse for her. All she could think about was Tom, which made her quite upset. There was no man on the planet besides her brother and her father that she had ever loved so much. She had thought she loved Louis, and she did at one point in time, but her feelings for Tom outweighed her feelings for Louis by the thousands. Despite what had happened, she still knew in her heart that she was meant to be with Tom. She knew in her heart that with him was where she belonged, and the thought of it welcomed her. It had welcomed her from the very moment she had figured out her feelings for her beloved web slinger. It was the reason why she was so hurt. She never thought he could be capable of hurting her the way he had, but Serena had been proven wrong on yet another occasion. That did nothing to change how she felt, however.
Serena wanted Tom. Serena needed Tom. All she wanted at the moment was get up, hop on a plane, and go to him. She found that the worst part of being upset with him was not being with him, and she was sure her drunken state was the reason behind trying to convince herself of such.
"Hello, love," Harry's cheerful voice sounded, startling Serena slightly.
The brunette looked up at her friend to see a bright smile on his face, only it dropped when he took notice of the tears streaming down her face. Harry sat down beside Serena, a worried expression now on his face, which confused Serena. She wasn't aware she had began to cry.
"Why are you crying?" Harry questioned her.
Serena furrowed her brows and reached up to wipe a tear away, shocked to find that she was crying as he had claimed. "Well, what do ya know?"
"What's wrong, Serena?"
His question seemed to make Serena even more upset than she already was, and much to his dismay, she began to sob.
"I want Tom," Serena cried.
Harry frowned and pulled her small frame to his body, wrapping his arms tightly around her. He was so sick of seeing her in tears, so sick of seeing her in pain.
"He hurt me, but it hurts worse not being with him," Serena continued to cry. There were several eyes on her and Harry, but neither one of them seemed to care. Harry's focus was only on Serena, and Serena's focus was on her feelings. "I've never felt this way before. I feel like I'm suffocating without him, I don't know what to do."
Serena was very much intoxicated, that much Harry knew. This only meant he was going to have to get her out before she could draw too much attention to herself.
"Why don't I take you to see him?" Harry asked her.
Serena sniffed and looked up at him. "But don't you have press and stuff for Dunkirk?"
Harry smiled and shrugged. "I might, but what kind of best friend would I be if I left you in this state. I'm tired of seeing you upset, and if taking you to see Tom makes you happy, I'll do it without hesitation."
"Really?" Serena squeaked.
Harry only nodded, which in turn only made Serena cry harder. She loved Harry so much, so much that she didn't even have the words to describe how much she did. She had always known he would be there for her. She had always known he would do everything in his power to make sure she was happy, and he had, and he was going to.
"I love you so much," Serena said as she squeezed him tightly.
Harry chuckled and hugged her back. "I love you, too, kid. Now what do you say we get out of her and go get your boy back?"
Serena only looked up at him and smiled, which was the only answer he needed.
