Chapter 37

"How could you? She's mine!" I roared so angrily that I startled the others. "Mine!" I looked at her sleeping, undisturbed form. I smiled, because all could be forgotten with a single look to her.

"I'm doing what's best for the pack. Power is in my blood, I'm drawn to it. If you're willing to let your mate go, of course I was going to scoop up the chance. I can't help it; with that baby she's carrying, Shifter or not, will be the key to everything. And I need that within reach."

"Bastard. I change my mind; I want her. I was just trying to do the right thing. Your strange-ass power fetish still intact. She's mine Dom, you won't win this."

"That's where you're wrong. I already won; I'm the alpha and you had your chance. You passed on it. I couldn't allow your stupidity to cause the loss of this, opportunity. I guess you could say that the girl is mine now," his eyes shown with fierce intimidation.

I inhaled deeply, folding my lips inward. I closed my eyes and told myself not to give into my alpha.

"Her name is Bella and she will never be yours. She loves me deep down ya know; she will never love you."

"That's okay, I'll never love her either. It's not about love at all. It's about being on top, having all the power and control. Bella will provide me with that."

"No."

"I am alpha; she may be your mate and a human at that, but come first she's still a supernatural creature. Even if I have to order you to stay out of it, she will eventually bend to my will. Just like she did with the leech and just like you did with me."

"Go to Hell! I will fight with everything I have to keep her out of your clutches," I continued to inhale deeply, my anger growing. My strength weakening.

"You're fighting my position over you and you are already having trouble. Do you really think you can keep me away from precious Bella? It is going to take a lot more will than you apparently have," he smirked, knowing he was winning.

"I love her. I barely survived her with that vampire and I hardly witnessed any of it. Do you really expect me to survive when it's right in front of my eyes?"

"Stop being such a girl, Paul. I'm not as brutal as him. He made a huge mistake, one that I won't make. He got to emotionally involved, attached to her. Vampires are pathetic creatures. I won't hurt her, at least not on purpose and any more than completely necessary. You're pack, I wouldn't hurt you that way."

"You already have."

"Stop fighting me on this, it's not a request. Let it go," Dom demanded in that tone.

I didn't say anything. I shook my head, and looked at Bella and walked away.

"Bella," he started, but his voice faded with my distance.

"What the hell is this? Bella's out of the picture so you pounce at him? Really Emily?" I yelled angrily at the sight in front of me.

She was straddling Sam; she was practically eating his face.

"Mind your business Jake. My girl and I are in the middle of something."

"In the middle of cheating on Bella! How could you? After all you two have been through; pathetic."

"I am alpha, you will respect me!" Sam yelled, he got up.

"Sam, ow!" Emily cried, landing on her butt.

He crouched down. "Em, I'm sorry. I'm sorry," he spoke softly, carressing her long hair.

"It's okay," she smiled at him lovingly.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

"No! What about Bella?"

"Jake, we should talk. Just me and you; something has happened. It's big."

"I do not want to hear your bullshit," I looked at her.

"I'm serious," she practically pleaded.

"Fine," I sighed. "You have five minutes."

"I can work with that; this is important," her eyes on Sam.

"You don't have to explain anything to him," Sam all but growled.

"I do. This I do need to explain Sam, it's something the whole pack should know."

"What's there to know? We're together. I love you and you love me, so why is Jake so crabby over this? It's not like we're a new goddamn thing here."

I squinted my eyes in confusion.

"And if I hear one more thing about the Swan girl, someone's losing a leg."

I glanced at Emily, racked with even more confusion, she just nodded with a smug look on her face.

Here's chapter 37, finally! I hope you guys enjoyed it even though it was boring and shorter than my usual. I meant more for this chapter, but since I haven't posted in like a month, I wanted to show you guys that I am still alive.
