Maria slowly bent down to tie her shoe laces. She removed the small amount of dirt that collected on the front toe of her shoe. These were her most comfortable pair but the most expensive so she had to keep them beautiful. Her shoes were now beautifully tied and she stood to gaze at the scene in front her.
She hated these parties.
Boys were trying to impress girls and the girls were barely dressed. She had her juice in her hand which she knew had been spiked by one of 'popular' boys. He had insisted on getting her a drink. The music was also too loud which made her head thump inside her brain, she was sure she was losing more brain cells by the second.
Alice Smith was sitting next to Hal giggling away like some sort of love sick puppy that needs a good kick. Maria was sick to her stomach watching them.At this point, Maria was getting ready to leave the godforsaken party. She was already bored and it wasn't even 8 pm yet. With a small huff, she placed her drink on the counter and made her way over to Alice to try and coax her to leave as well. That itself seemed like an impossible task.
"Can we go?" She shouted over the music that was making her brain rattle. Alice didn't even glance at her. Maria was already growing impatience so she repeated herself but closer to Alice's face.
The young blonde gave her a look before replying "You can go but I'm staying here!" She shouted and turned to Hal just in time for him to finish his joke which she didn't really care about.
Maria tried to tell her friend that she was her ride home but she got told to go away and stop being a guppy. She stood there for a moment, looking around to see if anyone lived close enough to drop her home but it seems that they either wouldn't or didn't live anywhere near her.
With a long sigh, Maria turned and began walking towards the closed door when it suddenly opened with an immense force. The young brunette recognised the large group tumbling in and she knew all hell was about to break loose. They all wore their signature Southside jackets and she could see the trouble beginning. To avoid being trampled Maria made an escape up the beautiful white marble staircase which no one loitered at anymore. The young girl assumed that they saw the young serpents and made a run to tell Hal but it was too late. Already the serpent gang had smashed a priceless vase and changed the music. She could already see the steam coming out of Hal's ears. Laughing quietly she watched with an amused expression planted on her face. She watched the young men jump on sofa's and play catch with a few expensive items. They sure knew how to party, at least that's what Maria thought. Next to her on the bannister was a balancing red cup. Slowly, she picked up the cup and saw it was a clear liquid. She prayed it was water. Giving it a little sip she instantly felt her throat burn. The young woman visibly grimaced at the alcoholic beverage before placing it down.
"I never took you for a party gal, Maria." A playful chirpy voice spoke behind her. Maria instantly recognised the voice to belong to Molly Matthews. She and Molly go back a few years and of course, they hung around the same crowd. The only difference is that Molly was currently dating Fred Andrews.
"Hey Molly, I didn't know you were here," she smiled at the bright haired girl before offering her the cup. Molly smirked before taking a long drink. "Great party?" She spoke sarcastically to her friend.
Molly laughed before giving her friend a side hug. "Don't be such a downer Reynolds. It's only a party." The two girls shared a look before chuckling again. Molly looked down to see Fred waiting for her at the bottom of the staircase.
"Oh Fred is waiting, we should go out for a movie to catch up, okay?" Molly pointed at Maria before rushing down to Fred, not giving her any time to reply.
She watched the young couple kiss before walking out the door hand-in-hand. Maria wanted something like that in her life. She watched Fred and Molly together and they seemed to happy. But of course, they argued like cat and dog. It was always about the same thing. Her ginger friend wanted to leave Riverdale but her boyfriend had no intention of ever leaving. It was the only thing they ever argued about.
Sure Maria wanted to leave but she wasn't sure where she would go. First, she had to convince her dad before anything else. He was rather protective of her.
Once again alone with her thoughts she watched the serpents tease Hal and raise hell. She wondered how they knew about this party. Sure her and Alice spoke about it in English during the week but no one knew where.
Then something struck her. Something made her skin warm and send a cold shiver down her spine. She sat next to someone on the Southside. Her head automatically looked at the front door to see a truck that she knew all too well.
Very cautiously and trying to control her raging heart, Maria slowly made her way to the door to see the one and only Forsythe outside leaning against his truck.
