When Asami and Korra walk through the portal, they're amazed at what Republic City had become. Bright lights shine in their eyes, street vendors are yelling prices for whatever they were selling. Korra and Asami looked around at everything that had changed.

"Wow. I...never expected this kind of a change in Republic City." Korra said astonished.

"Well I mean, we were gone for six months," Asami says "but, it's just a couple of flashy lights and fancy, expensive vendors. Republic City will always be the same." She grabs Korra's hand.

She smiles at Asami, "You're right. This is our home. Nothing could change that." They looked into each others eyes and as they were leaning closer together, there was a loud crash near the intersection in front of them. They turned towards the crash and ran to help. The crash came from two cars that were coming at each other from opposite directions. A man came out of one of the cars and tried to run away. Korra saw a pin on his coat that said "TTT". She gasps, "Asami! He's from the Triple Threat Triad! Go help the injured ones in the car. I'll go stop him." They agreed to the plan but before they could even start, two airbenders flew in to save the day. One of them had removed all the passengers from the cars and flew them to the nearest hospital. The other used an air swipe to knock the Triad member, forcing him to lose balance. Before the member could fall to his face, the airbender used an air vortex trapping him and bringing him back to the scene of the crime safely. The police force were already there collecting evidence. The bender gave the Triad member over to the police.

"Keep him held in the interrogation room. He'll speak soon enough." the unknown voice said. Korra and Asami were facing the back of this airbender, but they could tell by the voice who it was. They looked at each other and smiled.

"Soo, are you not gonna say 'Hey' to us.... Kai?" Korra asks.

Kai was signing paperwork for the police, but when he heard that familiar tone, he looked up and turned his head. "Korra!? Asami!?" He yelled. He gave the paper back to the police and ran to hug them. They all laughed and even cried a bit. "It's great to see you guys back in Republic City!" Kai says excitedly.

"And we're happy to be back." Asami grins.

"Look at you! You've improved so much on your airbending techniques!" Korra says proudly.

Kai becomes nervous and red. He scratches the back of his neck, "Hehe, Thanks! It means a lot coming from the Avatar herself. I've gotten more training opportunities with Jinora..."

Asami cuts him off, "Ooo Jinora?" Kai realizes what he's said, and blushes like crazy. "Seems like you guys are getting much, much closer." She smirks.

"Ohh man Kai. Well, you better be careful. Tenzin isn't the only one you have to watch out for if we find out you end up hurting her." Korra says in a serious/joking tone.

"Of course not! I would never try to hurt Jinora intentionally!" Kai states.

Asami and Korra both laugh. They pull Kai in for another hug and mess up his hair. "We know you won't. Don't worry, just messing with you!" Asami teases. As they pull apart from each other, the airbender that brought the injured to a hospital came back. She snapped her buttons back onto her chest and hips, then continued to pat herself down for dust from the car.

"Jeez Kai, did you already finish the report without me?" She said fixing her wingsuit. Korra and Asami turned around to see Opal in front of them.

"Opal!" Korra and Asami said in unison. Opal looked up and gave a big smile.

"Oh my gosh! You guys are here!" She ran over and gave them a big hug. "We've missed you guys so much!" Opal tears up as she says this.

"Aww. We've missed you guys too. It feels like it's been years since we've last seen each other." Korra says.

Opal pulls apart from the hug. "Oh man! Bolin and Mako are gonna be so excited once they hear you guys are back!" Korra and Asami look at each other. They didn't tell anyone besides Tenzin and Jinora that they planned on coming back today.

"Alright, Alright. Let's break this little crying fest and head to the Air Temple Island!" Kai says enthusiastically. The three girls looked over at him and smirked.

"Crying fest? If I recall, you were tearing up as well when we hugged you Kai." Korra says.

Kai scratches the back of his neck, "Well... That isn't what's important right now!" He stutters, "What is important is that we bring you to the temple so that everyone can see you again!" He took out his bison whistle and blew into it. A few seconds later, Lefty flew in and landed next to Kai. He used his airbending to blast himself onto Lefty. "Come on! Let's go!" Kai says as he gestures for them to hop on. The girls smile and head towards Lefty. Opal blasts all three of them onto Lefty's saddle. "Yip Yip Lefty!" Kai yells.

As they fly out of Republic City, Korra and Asami look at how much has improved and changed. Opal notices their stares at the City. She grabs both their hands, "Don't worry, it may look fancier, but it's still the same Republic City that you know and love." She smiles. Korra and Asami thank Opal for that reassurance and lay back in the saddle. They relax on the ride back to the Air Temple, where everyone is waiting for their return.
