"Seriously. How many people did Tenzin invite??" Korra thought while she was shaking person number 30's hand. "I mean honestly. Gone through 30 people, and I haven't even made it to the middle of the room!"
She assumed Asami was still behind her, but when she turned around, she couldn't see her. "Oh no...they got Asami!" Korra started to freak out, looking in each direction for her. Then she heard her name.
"Ms.Sato! It is wonderful to have you back in Republic City!" said a man that looked like he was with the council.
Asami smiles, "It feels great to be back Mr.Chey! We must catch up about family businesses later on, yes?" She nods her head, releasing from his grasp while walking away. Then she's onto the next one. Korra stands in awe. She's impressed with Asami's social skills but then realizes that this is second nature to her. Bumi watches Asami work her way through the crowd and smiles. Then he sees Korra, standing only two feet away from the entrance. He laughs and whispers to Kya and Bolin.
"Seems like Avatar Korra has problems with mingling huh?" He jokes. Kya turns to where Korra is.
"I don't blame her. I mean what kind of person invites the whole Republic City population when they know that the Avatar has trouble with these situations. Oh wait.." She smirks and turns her head, motioning behind him.
Bumi turns around to see Tenzin talking animatedly with his hands to a group of council members, then back to face Kya and Bolin. They break into a fit of laughter. They know only Tenzin was capable of such an idea. Opal walks up next to Bolin holding two flutes of sparkling cider.
"Okay, I was going to grab the champagne, but it felt too much of a grown-up adult drink so I went for the sparkling. Sorry if you wanted the champagne." She says sheepishly as she hands him the other flute.
Bolin wipes a tear from his cheek, recovering himself. He grabs the flute from Opal's hand, "No worries sweetie. Drinking the kids' version of champagne is definitely better than acting like adults in a room full of officials." He intertwines their fingers and holds tight.
Opal smiles up at him. Bumi excuses himself to check on the band. Kya yelling at him to make sure they play some upbeat songs. He waves his hand behind as he walks off.
"Don't worry little sis! Big bro has got it handled!" Kya sighs.
"Hey, where's your brother? The party's started like 30 minutes ago. Is he hiding out or something?" Bolin shrugs.
"Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if he is planning on skipping. The guy was going mad thinking about how he was going to have to see his two exes' again." Kya and Opal give him a 'what do you mean by that?' look.
Bolin sighs, "He's worried about the possibility that his heart will suddenly jump start with feelings if he sees either of them. Add to the fact that he doesn't want them to fight over him, which in my opinion is a bit of a reach, but I lost the energy to try and convince him otherwise."
Kya chuckles and grins, "Well, you can tell Mako he has nothing to worry about. They won't be fighting over him anytime soon." Now it was Bolin and Opal's turn to give her "the look". Before they could get more information, Mako walks up to them.
Hair combed down, wearing a one-piece suit with his scarf hanging around his neck. On the outside, Mako radiated confidence, showing no sign of worry or stress.

Mako was internally dying from all the worry and stress that he was putting on himself. The scarf wasn't helping either since it just made him sweat profusely underneath. But he had to put on a face and the scarf calmed him down with sentimental memories. There was no way that he would crumble in front of the two. He needed to prove that he wouldn't do something stupid like fall in love with either of them.
