Korrasami : An Uncommon Relationship

IV: Catching Up

Tenzin prepared a last minute party in the new dining hall of Air Temple Island for the return of Korra and Asami. Since Tenzin was still busy chasing down Kai, Kya decided to bring the two to the party herself. Meanwhile, as Kya shows the two around, Opal was setting up for the party.

Opal grabs the plates from the kitchen and places one in front of every seat. It had been six months since they left and them returning now was a huge deal. She thought about the conversation they had before they arrived on the island. She sighs and becomes worried on how Korra will react to the news. Bolin enters through the hallway door.

"Wo-ow! Look at this set-up!" He walks around. "You did a really good job getting the place ready for them sweetie." He says to Opal with his back turned to her. He's waiting for a witty response back, but gets nothing. He turns to face her and sees her worried look. His smile fades. He walks over to her and puts his hands on her shoulders. "Sweetie?" He says. She comes back to reality and faces him.

"Oh! Hey! Sorry, I-i was just lost in thought I guess." She says nervously. He knows when she's lying. She starts to walk away but Bolin turns her around so that they're facing each other again. He stares her down as she awkwardly tries to avoid his eyes.

"Is there anything you want to say?" He wonders. She shakes her head 'No' vigorously. He looks at her then sighs. "Well alright then. If you have nothing to say at this moment, then I won't bother you about it," she starts to relax, "because I know you'll end up telling me soon." He starts smiling and Opal can't help but smile too. They hug it out and as they pull apart, Opal punches Bolin in the arm.

"Oww! And may I ask what that was for?" He says as he rubs his arm.

"For being too cute and corny!" Opal giggles.

Bolin chuckles, "The only way I know how to cheer up my lady!"

"Seriously? We need you guys to be all lovey-dovey even in the dining hall?" Mako says as he walks into the room. He heads to the kitchen to grab a water from the fridge. Bolin and Opal follow him.

"Oh come on, relax bro. I'm just impressed with Opal's party set-up skills." Bolin states as he wraps an arm around Opal, pulling her closer.

Mako was drinking from his water, but then he stops, "Party planning?" Bolin nods at him. Mako and Bolin stare at each other confused. Then Bolin speaks up.

"Wait....you do know what's happening today right?" Mako shakes his head. "Bro! It's the day that Korra and Asami come back from vacation! Remember in that meeting we had with Tenzin this morning? He said that we were to set up the dining hall to surprise them." Mako's eyes widened. "You forgot to go to the meeting, didn't you?" Bolin smacks his forehead with his palm.

"Was it mandatory? Was there a sign outside my door? No! Sorry if I'm supposed to follow Tenzin around and ask him what my schedule is for the day!" Mako says annoyed as he flings his arms around. He rests his head on the kitchen counter. Bolin and Opal stare at him for a bit, unsure of what to say. Opal motions to Bolin that she's going to leave them alone. He nods and kisses her on her forehead. When she leaves, Bolin sits on the chair in front of Mako and waits. A few moments later, Mako releases a huge sigh.

"What do I do?" He stares at Bolin.

Bolin sighs and crosses his arms, " Nothing that you can do man. Look, how sure are you that one of them will even want you back?" Maybe they really don't like you anymore, and they've officially set you free to date other girls."

"I'm just nervous. What if I see one of them and I instantly have this desire to want one of them back?" Mako asks.

"Fight it. They just returned home. I don't think they'd want to be stressed with boy trouble already. Especially if it's about you." Bolin laughs. Mako makes a fist at him and Bolin puts up his arms as an apology to the comment.

He puts his fist down. "You're right." Mako sighs, "I'll relax. I will control these feelings if I start to have them."

Bolin explodes up out of his seat, "Perfect! Now, come on and help us finish." He walks over to Mako and wraps his arm around his neck. Mako smiles, wraps his arm around Bolin's neck and they walk out of the kitchen.

Meanwhile with Korra, Asami and Kya,

"And here we have a new training facility for the benders." Kya says as she points to one of the fields.

"It looks great Kya! Too bad we couldn't be here to help around." Korra says sheepishly.

Kya rests her hands on Korra's and Asami's shoulder, " Don't worry about that. Both of you needed away time, everyone understood that."

Asami relaxes, "Well, without us, the work that was done here is amazing. I love the new buildings and the designs of them." She walks up to one of the pillars and runs her hand over the engravings.

Kya and Korra follow behind her, "Varrick came up with the designs," Kya stated, " everyone pitched in with the labor part. Tenzin was ecstatic at seeing all the people who wanted to help improve Air Temple Island. Many friends and allies came. Of course, this place became housing for many of them since the housing in Republic City still hasn't been taken care of." Kya sighs.

"We're here now. To help with those kind of situations Kya. Don't worry. Asami and I are here to stay." Korra smiles and hugs Kya. Korra tugs at Asami's shirt, signaling for her to join in.

"Well I'm glad to hear that. And I'm pretty sure a certain person will be too." Kya pulls away and grins. Korra and Asami look at each other then back at Kya confused.

"Who?" They say in unison.

"Korra!!" Asami and Korra turn around.
