Korrasami : An Uncommon Relationship

III : Air Temple Island

Kai, Opal, Korra and Asami were on their way back to Air Temple Island on Lefty. They started catching up on the way.

"Soo, did anything big happen while we were gone?" Korra asked.

"Well there are the new Triad...." Kai started to say before Opal interrupted him.

"Kai! Not the right time." Opal hisses. Kai looked at her and mouthed the words 'Oops'. Korra and Asami look at each other then back at them curiously.

"Kai? Opal? What are you guys talking about?" Asami wonders.

Opal looks at Kai annoyed. Kai turns red and turns away to focus on directing Lefty on where to go. "Look, Korra..Asami, the news that Kai almost blurted out shouldn't come from us. When we get to the Island, Tenzin will explain."

"Explain what??" Korra asks.

"No time to explain! We're here!" Kai proclaims. Opal, Korra and Asami move to where Kai's sitting and as they get closer, Air Temple Island comes into view.

"Wow! Its changed a lot!" Asami says.

And she's right. After Kuvira basically destroyed Republic City, all the nations decided to help rebuild it. As the rebuilding process was happening, Tenzin and the Air acolytes agreed to improve the Temple. They created more stables to accommodate everyone's bison, a bigger training facility, an obstacle course that Tenzin had improved and a meditation center. Kai landed Lefty in the middle of the quad and everyone came out to welcome back Asami and Korra. Korra and Asami were being hugged from in every direction. They laughed and smiled at the sight of everyone around them. Then Korra looked up and saw Tenzin.

"Korra!" Tenzin waved and started to make his way towards her. Everyone moved around and created space for him to walk through. When he reached her, he hugged her tight. "It's great to see that you arrived back safely."

"Of course we would arrive safely. I mean the portal is just right there." Korra joked. Asami came up behind Korra.

"Asami!," Tenzin said, "Good to see you back as well." He hugged her.

"Great to be back." Asami said. They pulled away from the hug. Everyone had left by that time to continue with their activities. Tenzin led Korra and Asami to the fountain. They ended up running into Kya, Bumi, Ikki and Meelo. Ikki was about to start an airbending match between Bumi and Meelo. However, no one seemed to notice them. They were too busy with their own activity.

"Alright! Fair game you two! And this time Meelo, no flatulence tricks." Ikki eyed him. Meelo gave her a big smile.

"Whatever you say sis! You ready Uncle Bumi!?" He said excitedly.

Bumi grinned, "As ready as I'll ever be! Bring it on!" They assumed positions and stared each other down. Kya noticed Korra and Asami with Tenzin and ran over.

"Oh! Its so great that both of you are back! We've missed you guys so much." Kya said as she hugged them both. They pull away from each other. The three of them smile.

"We missed you too Kya." Korra said. Then she looked at the battle that was about to begin. "Now this I'd like to see." Ikki blew her whistle and the match had began.

Meelo attacked first with two air blasts headed straight for Bumi's chest. Bumi flew back but used an air cushion to save his fall. He landed on his feet and attempted an air swipe. Meelo jumped fast enough to avoid it and used an air bomb to blast Bumi away again. Bumi couldn't handle the blast and landed at the feet of Korra.

"And down goes Uncle Bumi!" Ikki said.

"WOOHOO! Meelo for the win!" Meelo proclaimed and spun around on an air scooter, flaunting his victory. Ikki and Meelo high-fived each other and started cheering. Korra and Asami laughed.

"So this is what we've missed huh?" Asami giggled. Meelo and Ikki turned to see Asami and Korra. Bumi looked up and couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"They're back!!" Ikki and Meelo said and ran to hug them, stepping all over Bumi. Meelo jumped into Asami's arms and for that one moment, she didn't mind him being up in her face. Ikki was hugging Korra as tight as she could. Korra leaned on her and realized that she didn't have her hair separated in two buns.

"New look Ikki?" Korra wondered. Ikki pulled away and ran her hand through her hair.

"Oh yeah. Well it's nothing big, just changing it up a bit!" Ikki stuttered.

Meelo smiled. "Ikki changed her look because of a boy!". He jumped out of Asami's arms and started running around the area. Ikki turned red.

"I did not!" She started to chase after Meelo. Kya helped Bumi get up on his feet. Korra and Asami pulled him in for a hug.

"Oh you two! It has been too long," he whispers into their ears, "never ever leave for vacation without me ever again please." Korra and Asami laugh as they pull apart from the hug. Ikki was still trying to catch Meelo, until Korra decided to help. She used an "Earth Hand" to grab Meelo by his wingsuit and brought him back to the group.

"Man! This isn't fair," he pouted and crossed his arms, "I can outrun Ikki, but not the Avatar!" Ikki chuckled.

"Hah! That teaches you to mess with me!" Ikki high-fived Asami and Korra.

"Wait, you're not off the hook yet Ikki. You still have to explain what Meelo was talking about." Ikki started to get nervous. "Who's the guy?"

"What guy? I don't see a guy! I don't like anyone!" Ikki said nervously.

Tenzin placed a hand on Korra's shoulder. "Oh, stop pestering my daughter Korra. Besides, Ikki knows better that she can't date anyone until she's 25!" He proclaims. Everyone starts laughing. Bumi and Meelo end up rolling on the floor because they couldn't handle Tenzins comment.

Ikki starts to calm down and pulls herself together. "Oh wow Dad! That was a good joke! Didn't think you'd have something like that up your sleeve." She sighs and grins.

Tenzin looks at her confused. "Honey, it's no joke. No dating until you're 25!" Everyone starts realizing how serious he might be and start to back away, but not Ikki.

She looks at him straight in the eyes, "Dad! How is that even fair!?" She starts to raise her voice.

"Trust me! You're not ready to start dating. You're too young." Tenzin says.

"I'm too young?? Then how come Jinora gets to start dating when she's not even 20 yet!" Ikki states.

Tenzin starts to laugh. "Hah! Your sister? She's not dating anyone! She's still young and she knows that herself. Believe me, I know your sister well enough that she won't start dat..." Tenzin stops his sentence to see Jinora at the stables across from him. Everyone follows Tenzin's stare and notices something that turns Tenzin into a flaming mess.

Asami whispers to Kya, "Isn't that Jinora? And Kai?" Kya nods.

".....Are they....holding hands?" Korra stares and asks Bumi. He gulps, then nods. They all look at Tenzin and realize he's about to explode.

"I'd cover your ears for this." Bumi warns everyone. They do as he says and Bumi counts down with his fingers, "3...2....1"

He explodes, "JINORA!!!". A nearby statue breaks into pieces after the thundering voice of Tenzin. Jinora turns to see her father filled with rage.

"Oh no." Jinora says. Kai turns red.

"Well Jinora, it was fun while it lasted! I'll see you around! Gotta go! Bye!" He gives a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek, then flies away on his wingsuit.

Tenzin starts to chase him, "KAI! Get back here this instant!" Jinora buries her face in her palms.

"It really was the right choice to come back." Korra smiles. She holds Asami's hand when no one was paying any attention to them.

Asami smiles, "You're right."
