Green eyes flutter open as my conscious finally returns from dream land. Humming in pleasure, I stretch my body and sigh when the kinks snap and relax before leisurely turning my attention to the ground, where Lou slept peacefully with his arms around his pillow and mouth chomping at the corner.
"He's probably dreaming of food," I realized as I watched my mate devour his pillow with faint amusement. "I honestly think if it were legal, then he would marry food but then be charged for homicide when he inevitably eats it."
I snort at that thought, but I quickly cover my mouth when Lou mumbles before quieting once more.
"I have to be quiet," I told myself as I turned my eyes towards the ceiling. "I don't want to wake Lou. What time is it, any way?"
I look over at my alarm clock and am pleased to see I woke up at ten in the morning rather than at eight, seven, or, heaven forbid, six on a Sunday morning.
"I'm glad I was able to fall asleep last night and actually stay asleep," I nod my head at my own statement, "even if I only had five hours of sleep. Beggars can be choosers, though."
Closing my eyes, I inhale deeply and bask in the glow of the sunlight floating in through the cracked curtains.
"Even though all of this started on Friday, it seems like it's been forever since I've managed to fall into a peaceful sleep," Stretching again, I hum as my lax body gently protests before falling deeper in to my warm bed. "I wish I could stay this way forever."
If I had my way, I most likely would have remained in my comfortable bed. I would have pulled the covers over my head, and I would have let the pillows coax me back into their arms. However, I didn't have my way because just as I was about to be lulled back into dream land, I heard the all too familiar sounds of pots colliding and the steady rhythmic heartbeat of mum.
"I better get up," I sigh deeply in resignation as I throw the covers off my body and sit up. "I love making breakfast with mum, and she probably wants to have that talk about Friday morning."
I quietly groan at the thought of being interrogated- again. I just can't catch a break-but obediently push myself out off bed and head into the bathroom, where I strip away my clothes and shower. Once clean, I dry myself off and change into black sweats and a plain white T-shirt, and I even attempt to tame my wild curls but give up when the endeavor proves to be futile.
Scanning my face-which no longer looked like a zombie-I nod my head in satisfaction before breathing in and steeling myself for what ever awaited my downstairs.
However, just before I leave the bathroom, my eyes catch a glimpse of white boxers-with, of all things, flying unicorns and glittering rainbows printed along the fabric-hanging over my towel rack.
"There's only one person in this whole world who would ever wear that thing," I don't have to look in the mirror to know the smirk slithering over my lips is nothing short of devious, "and what's better, those are his lucky boxers."
I don't think twice about grabbing the undergarment and stuffing it underneath my mattress. Once certain Lou would be unable to find his auspiciously colorful boxers, I head out of the room and down the stairs while humming a nameless tune.
" Good morning, Lou," I sent my sleeping companion his morning greeting before I focus on Anne, who was bustling around the kitchen pulling out eggs and other ingredients.
