"So what do you guys have planned for Dallas's birthday tomorrow?" I asked Soda.
"Mmm, not sure." He shrugged and put his hands in his pockets.
"He's turning 18." I stated. It was a fact we both already knew but still seemed funny to say. "18," I repeated.
After a few moments of silence walking down the street, I spoke up again. "Do you... do you think he'll get his soulmark?"
"Honestly... I don't really know." Soda brushed off. "Anyway, what do you think you will be doing for your birthday?"
"Mmm, not sure." I chuckled.
"Seriously?" Soda asked genuinely shocked. "No way! I mean you're turning 16, and for Dally not planning his birthday is okay because it's been two years after his soulmark should've appeared, but you still have a great chance of getting yours! Shouldn't you be exc-"
"Soda, shh!" I slapped my hand over his mouth and pulled him into the nearest alley. His protests were heard easily, so I pinched his arm.
"Ow!" He whimpered.
"Sorry," I quickly apologized. "But I thought I saw a car trailing us and I wanted to throw them off."
We stayed silent in the alley for about another minute when we thought it was safe to walk out again.
"Whew, that was a close o-"
All of a sudden I felt two arms grab my waist and pulling me back.
Since all they were gripping was my torso, I lifted my arm and elbowed whoever it was right in the nose.
"Jesus!" They yelled.
"Yeah, take that you son of a- Two-Bit?!" Soda and I exclaimed his name in unison.
"Yeah..." Two grunted from his hunched over position. "It's me."
"That wasn't really funny, you know. After the stunt you pulled tonight and not only trailing us but then scaring Lucia half to death?" Sodapop fumed. "What're you trying to do, Two."
Two-bit returned to his original standing position and I realized he still had blood dripping from his nose and some on his shirt. "Alright, calm down Soda." He started. "And Lucia, I'm sorry for earlier and for scaring you. I thought it would be funny, plus you made my nose bleed so that should even that situation out."
I huffed once and then pulled him in for a small hug. "I'll forgive you- for just now though."
After settling down a minute, Soda spoke up again to ask a question. "Hey, Two, if your car is in the shop... how were you trailing us?" Then he laughed. "Or did you steal one?
