Day 60

It was Lyla's 60th day on Neverland. She marked it on the floorboard under her bed. Luckily Peter Pan had yet to discover that she had the 'Mark of Star' on her collarbone, but he and his shadow were still searching everywhere. Apollo still insisted that she tell him, but she was too scared of what might happen. Apollo insisted that the longer she waited, the worse it would get. Lyla knew that but she was biding her time.

For the last 6 weeks since the attack on the Natives, Lyla's life on Neverland had been pretty peaceful. She trained everyday with either Apollo, Aaron, Colton, or Felix. For a week she even had Pan training with her because she was so hopeless at hand to hand combat. The Boy King was convinced he could succeed at making her a decent hand to hand fighter, but he failed like the others. Pan eventually gave up and told her to always be armed even while she sleeps. Without a weapon she was pretty defenseless.

Lyla and Pan had been getting along extremely well in the last 6 weeks. She felt tremendously guilty about it, but she might have almost considered him a friend. She thought their kind of 'friendship' would be rocky after Aaron dared her to kiss him, but it wasn't. Lyla was amazed by how well she got along with a volatile monster and also scared by it. But, somehow he made her forget that he was a homicidal manic whenever she was with him. She hated it. She shouldn't be this naive or easily manipulated.

She was still just as thin as she was 6 weeks ago, but at least it wasn't getting worse. She was a bit less sleep-deprived, but not much. Her nightmares still haunted her every night, but she'd been managing to get a bit more sleep before they woke her. She never did get a restful sleep though.

Today was a deviation from her routine. Today Pan was taking her to see Dead Man's Peak and The Cliff. She was supposed to see them when she got the tour, but it was cut short.

Lyla sat at the dining table, waiting for Peter Pan to arrive. The sun hadn't risen yet, but Lyla had been up for awhile. Nightmares banged in dissonance, keeping her awake.

"You're up early again I see," Peter Pan's rang out into the empty camp as he strolled toward her seat. "I thought we talked about this."

Lyla sighed, not in the mood for a lecture. "There's really not much I can do about it Pan," she said,"Anyways let's finish this tour finally."

The King of Neverland extended his hand to her. He pulled her up when she accepted. He held on to her hand and teleported them to the top of Dead Man's Peak. A gentle breeze was blowing at the tip of the mountain, running through Lyla's dark hair. She looked out at the view of Neverland in awe. The island looked so incredibly surreal as dawn was just breaking.

"Woah..." Lyla commented unable to form any other description of what she was witnessing. Peter Pan chuckled, amused by her wonder.

"Sit down," he ordered. Lyla glanced at him confused, but did as she was told. Pan sat down next to her and handed Lyla a plate of toast with jam. The Lost Girl started to protest that she wasn't very hungry, but Pan cut her off.

"Lyla, you haven't eaten breakfast and you didn't eat dinner last night. Eat it," he ordered, leaving no room for argument.

Since when does Pan pay such close attention to when and what I'm eating...? Lyla huffed in irritation and took the plate from him. The toast and jam was actually pretty good. Lyla gazed in amazement as the sun painted the Neverland sky shades of yellow, pink, and blue. This island really was a work of art.

Peter Pan watched Lyla, delighted that she ate all of the breakfast he gave her. He couldn't help but notice how beautiful she was in that moment. The sunrise bathing her in a soft golden light that shimmered along hair and illuminated her tanned skin. He looked away quickly before she could catch him entranced in her beauty.
