** Lyla gasped and pressed herself into the corner she resided in. Cool metal bit her skin but she stayed put. The dreamscape around her was coated in a harsh navy blue. It was cold. It was lonely. It was desolate. She prayed they wouldn't find her in her hiding spot. She prayed she would go unnoticed. As she heard the heavy footfalls thunder down the stairs, Lyla found herself wishing she could simply slip through the cracks of the pirate ship. She wished she was back in the Enchanted Forest. She wished she was free.
The heavy footfalls persisted slowly, mocking her, toying with her fear. Thud. Thud. Thud. The door creaked open. An elongated, sickeningly eerie sound. Like nails on a chalkboard. The girl could feel the hairs on her neck prickle in trepidation. She held her breath.
It was quiet for some time. Lyla finally exhaled in relief only to yanked out of her small hiding spot. Fear clenched her heart and she yelped at the sudden danger. She clawed at the man as he dragged her up the same frightful stairs.
She was pulled up to the deck and shoved harshly onto the rough deck. Pirates circled around her sprawled body. She hastily and shakily stood to face them. The cruel violet color of her dream painted them in a strange sort of fierceness.
One specific pirate separated himself from the group to join her in the center. Captain Hook. Lyla instinctively began to back up only to hit a wall of pirates and be pushed back in. She stared at him with terrified wide eyes. She gulped as he fixed his maliciously gleaming eyes on her and raised his silver hook. The violet light of her dream bounced off the metal, giving it a poisonous shine.
Out of the blue, the Captain slashed at Lyla's face. She screamed as she felt her cheek being shredded and fell to the ground. Lyla held onto her slick cheek, coated in fresh blood that relentlessly gushed from the deep wound. She looked back up at the pirate towering over her only to receive a sharp kick to the nose.
Lyla heard a disgusting crunch before she felt it. She cried out in agony and held her newly broken nose in her bloody hands. The onslaught didn't stop. The girl was kicked meanly before the Killian Jones hauled her upwards by her ponytail. Lyla screamed at the action, scared that her hair might be ripped from her scalp.
"Stop! Stop! Stop!" She pleaded with the pirate. He gave her an insane smile that took up half his face.
"Why are you doing this?" Lyla cried in agony from the inflicted wounds and fear.
Killian Jones somehow managed to smile wider. "It's what you deserve, Lyla. You act all high and mighty but you are just as evil as Pan. Your hands have just as much blood on them."
Lyla's eyebrows furrowed in indignation and confusion. "That's not true! I'm a good person!" She protested.
Killian Jones threw his head back and laughed like it was the funniest damn thing he'd ever heard. "You're a monster, Lyla. And we both know it." He accused her.
He tossed Lyla back to the ground and every nerve screamed in pain. She grit her teeth. The pirates swarmed around her, all yelling at her in dissonance: "Monster", "Demon", "Devil", "Evil", "Liar". She cried and she cried. **
Lyla Amaranth woke up, cradled in Peter Pan's arms. Tears freely flowed down her cheeks. Her hands shook as she dug her fingers into the boy's bare chest. He stroked her hair and kissed her head as he waited for her to calm down.
