Hello again! Its been a while, hasn't it? I'm sorry I haven't been quick enough with these chapters! I tried to do the wedding chapter, but it was an utter mess. So I have put off the wedding (again) and I have written this instead! I'm so evil ('Nefarious even!')! I hope you enjoy!

Ps. The last bit is in Hawke's perspective! ;)

"Can I help you, Master Fenris?"

It was Bodahn. I had hoped that Hawke would be alone when I did this, but things never go right around her, do they? I was surprised the fireplace didn't explode whilst I was proposing to her, or something equally unpredictable. But now I'd have to so this in front of Bodahn, maybe Sandal too. I guess I wouldn't mind Sandal there with us, as he was always, how do I put it? Let's just say, one sandwich short of a picnic, that sums it up pretty well.

Fiddled nervously. What was I supposed to say? Hello there, just popping in to formalise my secret engagement with Hawke, do you mind? No, I'll keep it vague, and maybe he will go away and leave us to it.

"I would like to speak with Hawke," I reply, casually reaching into my pocket to twirl the ring around in my fingers. I hope she likes it.

"Come right in, Messere." Confusion flickered across his face momentarily, but he quickly masked it and led me in. I give him a quick nod, then walked into the grand estate. As I spot Hawke slumped in her chair, something was off about her lazy smile as she gazed into the fireplace. Her head lolled towards me as I walked in, and I could smell the stench of alcohol from across the room. Uh oh.

She pushed herself out of her chair, wobbled slightly, then began to walk over. I froze in place.

"Fenriz? Iz dat yoo? I aven't seen yoo sinze-" She luckily tripped over her own feet and fell into my arms before she could reveal our secret. I held her up and made her look into my serious eyes as she chuckled.

"Hawke, are you drunk?" Did I really need to ask?

"Maybe..." She giggled, the leaned in to give me a kiss. I dodged out of the way of her lips, trying to move her back into her chair. She wasn't sober when I saw her leaving the Hanged Man earlier, but she certainly wasn't in this state, considering she could actually walk three meters without tripping up. She wasn't normally a heavy drinker anyway, and believe me, Isabella tried to put her under the table once, and she spent all her money on drinks for her, but to no avail. What had gotten into her?

I was so busy trying to think up a perfectly reasonable excuse why she was so drunk, I was utterly unprepared when she vomited all over my chest.

---------------------------------------------

"I'm terribly sorry, Messere, I don't know why she's like this!" Bodahn apologised over and over agin to me, bringing me fresh clothes and taking away the dirty ones. Sadly, the only men's clothes in the house that weren't dwarf-sized, were in fact some of Carver's clothes, and guilt settled in the pit of my stomach. He would hate me for this.

I thanked Bodahn again for cleaning my things, and soon he shuffled away to do just that. I turn to Hawke, who was lying in bed looking utterly dreadful. I was half tempted to go find Anders, but I thought better if it. Hawke would probably tell him about our engagement.

I sit beside her, and softly stroked her cheek. She smiled a bit at that, and nuzzled her head against my hand. I couldn't help but smile back. Soon she slipped into a light sleep, and her face started to look a little less green.

I soon found myself brooding on my situation. (Perhaps I do brood?) What was I going to do now? I couldn't give her her ring like this! I wanted her to see her sober reaction, not just after she had vomited all over me. Even if I did decide to give her it now, she would most probably forget everything I said when she woke. But I can't see myself waiting any longer. She had already agreed to marry me, yet I still found myself waiting for conformation. It had only been a day since I asked her, but she had waited too long for something I couldn't give her at my proposal.

I would have to wait, I told myself, but not for long.

And with that, I slipped the ring on her finger as she slept peacefully, and left, seeking a drink for myself.

---------------------------------------------

I opened my eyes and immediately groaned as my head thumped painfully. It felt like someone kept slamming a brick into my brain. I closed my eyes again as they stung in morning sunlight that streamed through my window. I rolled over, aware that I was sprawled on my bed. How did I get here?, I wondered. I strained to remember last night. I remembered... being at the Hanged Man, and having a few ales, nothing that would cause such a bad headache. I remember leaving, then walking off with Isabella. She led me in an alley, and revealed a stash of alcohol... Oh Isabella. That's how I got this hangover.

Soon, as my senses slowly returned, I felt something on my finger. Not like an object, but a sensation, very similar to the distinctive hum of mana against your throat when you drain a lyrium potion. I opened my eyes, squinting against the light, then lifted up my hand. When it finally came into focus, I gasped.

On my ring finger was a, well, ring. Not just any ring though. No, the most beautiful ring I had ever seen.

I had often paused by the tiny jeweller shop to marvel at the gorgeous jewellery, but this was unlike anything on display. It was gold, polished to perfection so it glimmered in the light. But all along it were blue lines, swirling in intricate patterns, and the soft glow gave it away. Lyrium. But these patterns looked, oddly familiar, they looked just like... Fenris. They were like miniature replicas of his own markings. Beautiful.

Right in the centre of the ring was a heartbreakingly gorgeous gemstone. Not the usual white coloured, but a gorgeous scarlet that sent light bouncing around the room off its facets. It also had a faint glow, and I soon recognised it from the Deep Roads.

"Hawke look, a red diamond!" Varric called as I looked through another pile of rubble.

"Varric, I really wish you wouldn't keep pulling my leg." I sighed, not bothering to turn and look at him.

"I'm not! Well, I'm not right now, anyway. Take a look for yourself,"

I sighed again, then walked over to where he was standing. And there, the centrepiece of a necklace, was a large, red diamond. Varric twisted it around in his hand.

"How did it turn red?" I asked curiously.

"My guess is the red lyrium. I found it right next to a giant vein of the stuff. It might have stained it."

"Really?"

Before he could answer, Bartrand barked out more orders to us, and we shuffled off, Varric still holding onto the necklace.

So Varric must have kept the necklace, and gave it to Fenris to turn into a engagement ring. I twisted my hand slightly watching it shimmer and sparkle.

I hadn't noticed that Fenris had walked into the room, until he spoke, making me jump. He wasn't even a rogue.

"Do you like it?" He asked. He was trying to keep his tone cheerful, but failing miserably, as his voice was drenched in worry.

I did not answer him, I just leapt from my bed and into his arms, despite the fact that my head was still spinning, and hugged him so tightly I was surprised he was still breathing.

That's it! That's the end of this chapter! I hope you enjoyed it, and if you did, don't forget to vote and comment because it makes me really happy! I love checking my email and seeing that you guys have enjoyed my writing!

Thank you! ;)
