Why is it that Catholic teenagers swear SO MUCH?! The second commandment "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain" is often just taken to mean do not use the name of God or Jesus when you're swearing. Yes, I should not use the phrase "Oh my God," but personally I take it to mean no swearing at all. Not that I never swear (I actually do a lot. It's something I'm working on) but I'm not a fan when I get this reaction out of people.
Me: Oh my God...
Youth group kid: What the f*cking hell damn sh!t?! You just motherf*cking swore!
Me: *blink blink* S-so did you...
Youth group kid: Yeah, but not the bad kind where you take the name of the Lord your God in vain!
Me: *sigh* I am going to hell, aren't I?
