' This is un. Fucking. Believable...' Jerome thought to himself, irritated. Jerome leans on the wall of the elevator with his arms crossed and looks down at the floor,as Ebony stands across from him, avoiding to look at him but has the same irritated expression as well.
The elevator was dead silent, nothing but hate and irritation fills the small area they're in. Ebony taps her board softly that is wrapped around her arms, cutting off the silence but barely.
First they go to the same school, now live in the same apartment building, how worst can it get for Jerome? "Tsk..." was the only thing that comes out of his mouth. Ebony stares at him, rolling her eyes, and writes in her whiteboard, then holds it out for him to read. But Jerome was to pissed off to even look at what she have written.
Ebony keeps waving it around, but he still doesn't notice, irritated, she jabs his stomach with the whiteboard. Jerome was startled by the slight sharp pain in his stomach, looking up and glares. "What?! You're trying to harass me with your little attitude again? " he says harshly.
Ebony just glares right back at him and points at the whiteboard. Jerome stares at the board in her hand, it reads: "You don't have to act like a big pouty baby because I live here too. I hate it as much as you do. " Jerome rolls his eyes and pushes the whiteboard back. "Whatever... and I'm not acting like a damn baby, you're just going to give me a bitchy attitude everyday cause I bullied you..." Jerome protested.
Ebony writes on her board, holding it back up as it reads: "so you finally remember...well your brain isn't as dumb as I thought. " his eye slightly twitches at the remark, causing Ebony to smirk and seem to silently snicker.
Jerome groans lowly, "see? You're harassing me... over nothing. Yes I bullied you but you need to let that dumb shit go and move on! " He says, slightly raising his voice.
Ebony narrows her eyes at him, if only he knew how much he hurt her and struck fear inside of her. She gave a silent sigh and writes a bit slowly, then hands over the board. The board reads: "I have moved on." "Then why bring it up all the damn time?!" Jerome says, shooting a deadly glare at her.
Ebony stares at him silently for a moment, then starts to write. It took a while, but she hands the board to him, reading: "I've moved on from the time you bullied me since kindergarten. But I have not moved on from the feelings you forced upon me towards you. To be honest, being near you still scares me..."
Jerome's eyes slightly widens at the word 'scare'. 'I made her scared...?' He thought, the guilt that have been stabbing him in the chest since last night starts to grow. The elevator door opens, he walks out but stops. "If I still scare you so much, then keep your distance. " He said coldly.
Ebony just blinks, but walks out of the elevator and follows him. Jerome turns his head and looks down at the shorter girl, raising his eyebrow. Ebony notices, then quickly starts writing, handing over the board. It reads: "If you ask why I'm following just remember,1. I'm going to school as well, and how do I keep my distance exactly if we live the same apartment building and have a class together.... sadly." Jerome rolls his eyes at the last word. "Hmm, true points... just don't fucking talk to me or give me a dumb attitude,I feel bad enough..." Jerome mumbles the last part.
Jerome hates the fact that her attitude towards him is just growing the guilt inside of him. He just don't want to admit he feels guilty and know she's only acting like that to just grow the guilt some more until he regrets everything from the beginning to end and live with it forever.
Ebony rolls her eyes and walks out of the front door and starts walking down the street. Jerome has no choice but to walk as well since his bus stop is a few blocks down. Jerome stares at her, slightly confused. ' Why is she walking if her dad can drop her off?' He thought. Ebony continues to walk down the street but not really caring about Jerome next to her, she was just looking at her surroundings.
Jerome finally reaches the bus stop, his bus arriving just in time. But he notices Ebony continues to walk. "Hey, where you going? "He asked. Ebony just stares at him, then points straight ahead to where the school would be. Jerome felt slightly stupid asking but nods, entering the bus. It was actually quite a little empty, besides a child and an elder man and woman.
Jerome pays for the ride with his bus card and sits in the back of the bus. As soon as he sits down, the bus starts to move. Jerome looks out of the window, watching everything outside move, Ebony right outside of his window, placing her headphones on as she walks. He notices this is the very first time he have actually spoke to her, his heart sinks at the thought. Years wasted, by doing nothing but hurt someone who now hates him and fears him. Why can't this guilt just go away.
(A/N: sorry if this chapter seems dull to most of you ^-^' I'm still trying my best to make this interesting since it is still my first book ever written. Hopefully I'll make more books sooner or later.)
