Chapter 8

Jerome exits the bus as soon as it stops in front of the school.  He was expecting to wait for them in front of the school like he always do since they were kids.  But instead he was the last one to get to school and they were all waiting for him.

' The bus wasn't that late...' He thought to himself,  feeling a bit awkward since it is the first time he was waited on instead of being the who has to wait.  But that didn't really effect him so he walks toward his group of friends. "Well look who came to school,  guess we should be the ones complaining now,huh? " Xavier teased.  Jerome rolls his eyes, "Shut up,  it's no big deal... this was only once. " Jerome says bluntly.

The rest of the young males just chuckled and walk into the school,  chatting like they usually do.  Jerome barely participated in the conversations,  he was too busy thinking about what happened in the elevator.  ' To be honest,  being near you still scares me...' The words from the whiteboard made him feel like he was stabbed by thousands of needles.

The word  ' scare ' just triggers him to the point that he feels like saying it or hearing it will hit him like a brick.   "Hey,  Jerome,  what's wrong with you? " Joseph's voice snapped him back to reality.  Jerome turns his head. "Huh? " He blinks with confusion.  "You okay? " Joseph asked with a hint of concern.  Jerome just stares at him then turns his head, "I'm alright..." Jerome says,  Joseph just let's it slide and goes back to the conversation.  Jerome slightly turns his head towards the front door and sees Ebony just now entering the school.  His heart sinks,  quickly turning his head back to his group of friends in front of him.

' Why do I suddenly feel sick...?' He wondered,  his stomach turning just at the thoughts of him torturing the girl and making her feel miserable made him want to vomit.  Not paying attention,  Jerome bumps into someone. "Watch where the fuck you're going! " A familiar voice said,  causing Jerome from feeling sick to feeling like slamming the person to the wall.

Jerome looks up at the taller male with an icy look. "Why don't you look where you're going Malcolm!  You're always in people's way with your dumb ass. Have some sense of direction." He says coldly.  Malcolm glares at Jerome,  "I'm not the one who has the jacked up knee now am I? You probably lost your balance. "  he says with a snicker.

Jerome grits his teeth and clenches his fingers into a fist,  really wanting to hit him,  but that will just show he struck a nerve.  Slowly,  Jerome drops his fist. "Whatever,  you're not worth my time." Jerome walks past him,  shoving Malcolm out of his way with his shoulder.  His group of friends staring at the scene,  like they were ready to help attack if a fight started.

Jerome hears the bell ring and walks right pass his friends like a ghost going through a wall.  Jerome can hear Marco yelling for him,  his voice getting louder and closer until Marco was by his side. "What happened exactly?  Everything o-" "Everything is fine now stop worrying about it. " Jerome interrupted,  walking into class with Marco following.

The two enters the class,  taking their seats and class begins.  After a few classes,  Jerome heads to the cafeteria in the crowd of high school students scattering around like ants.

As Jerome opens the cafeteria door,  he notices how early he is,  there were only five students in the cafeteria,  two are Malcolm's friend,  one is Miles sitting at his group's table on his phone,  and the other two are just normal students he don't even know.

Jerome walks toward the  table where Miles sits, sitting down and placing his bookbag on the chair next to him. Jerome gives a annoyed sigh and leans his head against the wall.  "Bad day so far,eh?" Miles asked,  not taking his eyes off his phone.

Jerome rolls his eyes,sitting in silence.  Miles looks up from his phone,  putting it down.  "So about that girl you asked me about yesterday....I know I remember her... but why so curious? "He asked.
