"Well? Answer me!" Chloe shrieked, rather like a siren.

"Um....I...." Marinette began, lost for words. Adrien stood protectively in front of her.

"She's back after five years in China. And do not speak to her like that!" Adrien said, calmly enough, but angry all the same.

"I don't care what you think, Adrien Agreste!" She shouted loudly. "I want the opinion of Maritrash!"

"Don't call me that!" Marinette said, not shouting, but not saying, either. "My name is Marinette!"

"Whatever." Once again, Chloe pretended to believe Marinette didn't exist.

Marinette got up. "I'm gonna go. Since I'm clearly not welcome," Marinette shot a glare at Chloe.

Marinette stormed out.

Adrien followed her. Luckily, Marinette was at the door, fumbling with it (it had a difficult doorknob).

"Listen, I'm sorry about Chloe.....she must've had a bad day at work or something." Adrien said.

"No, it's fine. Marinette pulled up close to him. "Let's keep in touch." She whispered, before pulling away, opening the door, and shutting the door behind her.

A few short moments were spent with Adrien simply standing there, staring blankly at the front door Marinette had exited from.

Chloe came storming into the landing. "Adrien Agreste," she said, her voice little more than a whisper, but somehow more intimidating than a shout. "Living room. Now. And I want an explanation."

Adrien sighed. He went into the living room and reluctantly told Chloe about everything that had happened that day.

Marinette sped across the busy streets of Paris, car horns angrily honking, and people yelping, as they jumped out of her way.

Marinette was surprised to see some tears roll down her cheeks, but she ignored them. She fled through the bakery door, up the stairs, and through the hatch to her all-too-familiar attic room. She looked out of the window, at the busy streets of Paris. She looked over at the Eiffel Tower, then sighed and flopped on her bed.

Tikki zoomed out of her bag. "Oh, Marinette," she said, perching on the end of Marinette's bed, "I know your upset that Chloe is Adrien's girlfriend. It's OK." Tikki said comfortingly, before munching on a cookie three times the size of herself.

"Oh, Tikki," Marinette said, giving Tikki a little cuddle. "You always know the right things to say."

But, deep down, Marinette was still upset about her ordeal with Chloe earlier that day.

After a busy evening filling orders, making cakes and cookies, Marinette was tired. She closed shop fifteen minutes early and bounded upstairs to her bedroom. She slipped between her covers, settling her head on her fluffy pillow. The last thing Marinette saw was the beautiful sunset through her window, before her eyelids became too heavy, and she drifted off into a deep, dreamless sleep.
