Chapter 10 - More Than Friends

It was six months later.

Marinette snuggled into Adrien, watching Love Actually as delicate snowflakes fell, and frost on the window significantly thicker than it was ten minutes ago.

It wasn't cold in the room; the radiators were on, and, to be perfectly honest, it was rather toasty in the room. Of course, Marinette was snuggling up to him to stay warm; why, she was already warm. She was snuggling up to him because, from today, Adrien had asked Marinette to become his girlfriend.

It was relevant, in Marinette's behalf, that she had not been near as excited as Chloe. Yes, she kissed him. Yes, she loved him. But while Chloe had invited all of her father's friends' daughters to a party, Marinette had decided to stay in, watching one of their favourite movies. However, inside her mind Marinette was very happy indeed. A mental happy dance in her head lasted throughout the whole movie. Marinette had the happiest dreams as she drifted off to sleep that night, and even, one week later, she was constantly reminding herself how incredibly ironic her school life was. She loved Adrien, but Adrien loved Ladybug, who was her alter ego.

But it didn't matter now. Adrien Agreste had found the love of his life; living within Marinette.

Marinette had gone out one day; alone - Adrien had work and all her friends were unavailable. She stepped out to the freezing atmosphere. Frostbite pinched her nose; her fingers were blue and as freezing as the ice that surrounded them.

She looked over at the green opposite her bakery; the precise place that she, or her alter ego, had fought Fashionesta alongside her accomplice Chat.

A thought struck Marinette. She waited inside the house, the toasty air melting the snow on her fingers. She waited for Adrien, who came through the door at exactly fourteen minutes past three. The sky was growing dark.

"Adrien..?" Marinette asked him. Adrien turned.

"Yes?" Adrien asked. "I'm all ears." He laughed, and Marinette giggled.

"Well, I was wondering if....we could be Ladynoir?"

Adrien stood. "I thought you'd never ask." He purred.

"Tikki, spots on."

"Plagg, claws out."

Pink and green light filled the room so brightly Marinette, as she stood out in her alter ego's form, mentally wondered if their light had been enough to bring back the winter sun.

Chat stood before her, grinning with his pearly white, fang-like teeth. Ladybug smiled widely in return.

Then Ladybug took Chat's hand, and pulled him outside. In the distance, sleigh bells rang and the snowflakes fell gently around them. Chat caught one on his tongue and ate it. Ladybug did the same.

Then the pair looked into the mesmerisingly grey sky. Above a lamppost outside Marinette's bakery a mistletoe had been hung. Chat looked up, then back at Ladybug, and grinned. Ladybug pulled him quickly towards her and the pair kissed. Chat seemed momentarily surprised, then gave in and closed his eyes, wrapping his arms around Ladybug's waist. Ladybug wrapped her hands around Chat's neck.

"We're more than friends, now, kitty," she whispered, in a semi-seductive tone, "more than friends we are, indeed."

Then she met his lips once again.

The snow significantly calmed, and the wind less pinching than it was, as if it were appreciating the pair's piece in a important part of their lives. The wind picked up as Ladybug left her lover's lips, and Chat grinned once again.

"Yes we are."

I like how my story features a bit of everything; Adrienette and Ladynoir mostly, but hints of Marichat and Ladrien can be seen in the previous chapter.
