Nico's POV:
I woke mid-afternoon the next day. Hermione Granger was something else. I don't remember exactly what happened, but I do remember starting to melt into shadow. Was it my imagination, it did Granger summon a glowing silver otter that chased away those shadows? Despite my threats and... Dark personality is the only way I can describe it... She saved me. She's saved some kid she doesn't even know, some kid that pulled a sword on her and threatened to kill her. If I was thrust in that situation, I don't know it I would've made the same choice.
I stepped downstairs into the kitchen, smelling something delicious cooking. My stomach growled, surprising me. My stomach doesn't growl. But I walked (somewhat against my will, I might add) to a fireplace where a cauldron of bubbling stew sat. I recoiled when I saw the cook. It was a short, ratlike... creature that sang happily in a high-pitched yet raspy voice.
"Young Master Potter is so kind, letting Kreacher cook for him and his friends. For letting Kreacher keep Matter Regulus' locket!" I saw a glint of gold in the creature's... What was he wearing? It wasn't clothing, that's for sure. I cleared my throat, grabbing the attention of Kreacher. "Excuse me. Mind telling me where Harry and Percy and the others went?" It was obvious that the group went out. Where? I have no idea, but it gives me time to think.
