Keysha & Raquel - A Detroit bad girl story
Part thirty-one
CHAPTER FOUR
January 2007
Keysha slowly walked to the corner of the stand that had all varieties of food on it inside the store. She stood as close as she could , so that the clerk who really wasn't paying attention wouldn't see her stealing the can of Ravioli she had her eye on earlier that day. She quickly slid it in her bag, then without hesitation walked towards the door making her way out of the store. She walked all the way back to her home, going inside. They had to put the house they lived in up for sale because Anika couldn't afford the mortgage or DTE bill. They stayed with Cordel for a year until Anika was able make enough money to get them a home. Fourteen year old Sean was sitting on the couch watching Tv. "I wish we had cable" Sean spat, folding his arms frowning up. "Yeah I know right but we can't afford it right now" Keysha said pulling out the raviolis. "We never can afford it! That's all you got?" Sean asked his thirteen year old sister, looking at the can of ravioli. Keysha pulled out a bag of chips and two can pops. "This all my bag could hold, I'll get some more tomorrow from a different store. Either way we have to do we have to until moma get approved for food stamps. "You think they gone approve her?" Sean asked. Keysha sucked her teeth, of course they're going to approve her, why wouldn't they?" Keysha said. "Sometimes they don't approve people because they make too much money" Sean said. Moma work twenty-five hours a week right now, thanks to budget cuts at her job. I think they'll give her the stamps. Yeah I really hope so sis. "Just stay positive bro" Keysha said.
