CARTER'S POV

I decided to take a little longer getting dressed for dinner. I wasn't in any hurry to meet rogues. I had no idea why my father even invited them to dinner or why the hell he would give them permission to be on our land. 90% of them were burly wolves who have been exiled from their own pack for letting their own wolves take control over their human selves. They lose the ability to regain control, disobey wolf rules and have no regard for authority. They're just filthy animals. The other 10% are misfits. I have never met a good rogue.

I put on my K-Swiss for dinner just to piss my dad off. He was always proper wanting dress clothes when you come to dinner or go to a pack meeting and other bullshit like that. So I did whatever I could to do the opposite of what he wanted. I checked my reflection in the mirror, then reluctantly headed downstairs. As I got to the bottom of the stairs a heavenly scent filled my nose; honeysuckles mixed with a little Cool Water for Women perfume. There was also another smell, like mangoes and raspberries. They were distinctly different but kind of mixed in together as well. It was the craziest, most arousing aroma and I didn't really understand why. I began following it around the house and into the dining room. I was stunned, only able to stand and stare at the most beautiful women on this earth.

The first one I noticed had long beautiful hair that looked as if caramel was just drizzled all over it. Her black lace dress hugged her perfectly from what I could see above the table. I couldn't help but wonder what the rest looked like. She had the biggest chocolate eyes that mesmerized me as they stared back at me, allowing me to practically see her soul, which seemed dark and empty. No one ever looked me in the eyes, yet she seemed to not even be fazed by my stare. I noticed the most sensational, ruby red, voluptuous lips I had ever seen setting upon her beautiful face. I wanted to walk right over to her and bite her bottom lip. Without thought, my eyes roamed to another tantalizing woman that was tucked in next to her. She had creamy, milky white skin and raven black hair, looking remarkably close to Snow White. She smiled back at me with a very beautiful, breathtaking smile.

I turned my head to get a glance at the one in the lace dress again to see her eyes were closed. When she reopened them they were a darker coal color and they were literally colder. When she looked at me, shivers ran up my spine and the hair on my body erected. Her sardonic smirk was enough to have me tilt my head in confusion. One minute she was breathtaking and then she was just empty. I was dumbfounded.

I heard my father clear his throat and say something about us already meeting. Well damn, these were the rogues my father had wanted me to meet. I couldn't believe I thought a rogue, no no, I thought two rogues were beautiful, not just hot or sexy, but incredibly beautiful. Okay, Carter, pull it together. Shake those thoughts out of your head. Turn the jerk mode on. They are just arogues, nothing more. I took my seat and got ready for a most interesting dinner.

It had been a long night. One of the rogues name, I learned was Cat. She kept bouncing my insults off of her and responding with wittier ones. It pissed me off, but I found it extremely hot at the same time. I couldn't stop myself from staring at her admiringly, my damn wolf making me look like a freaking pansy. The other one, Joya, was beautiful and quiet. She smiled at me every time I glanced her way.

I was so inside of my head that I didn't realize they were getting ready to leave. Suddenly, I was in a bad mood. I didn't want them to leave. I kept asking random questions, bringing up mundane conversation to make small talk so they would stay. What was wrong with me? My emotions were going crazy. I was turning into a crazy chick!

After I finally ran out of things to say, the rogues made their way to the door.

"Dude," Tanner said coming up behind me "You might want to cut Cat a little slack. When your dad asked if you showed her around today, she covered for you. She really does seem like a pretty awesome person to hang out with. Plus, she's hot."

My wolf growled at Tanner.

"Sorry man, I don't know what is going on with me. Anyway, she's just a rogue," I shrugged "I don't owe her anything."

"Yeah but she's a rogue that saved your ass today buddy."

I nodded at him and ran out the door. I guess I at least owed her a thank you.

"Cat."

She turned and looked at me. I was watching as she said something to her friend Joya and kissed her cheek. Oh my God that was so fucking hot. Jesus Christ I needed to pull it together.

She swayed back towards me and I couldn't help but feel my jeans get tighter. Mini me wanted to be in between those hips. Hell, I think I did to.

"Look, thanks for covering for me with my dad. Today I got a shipment in and had to run to the dock to get it."

"No you didn't. You're horrible at lying. But, if you want to hang out and play while getting paid Daddy's money, go ahead. It isn't my business as long as I get paid."

How does she know I'm lying? I just met her. She really thinks my dad pays me. I earned all my money at the shop. I worked extremely hard whenever I'm not out looking for a cure. I began to get angry and clenched my fist; she was just like everyone else, she would never understand.

"It's not like that but you're right. It's not any of your business. But thanks just the same. You may go now." I shooed her away.

"Yeah Carter, you're welcome."

As she was walked away from me, I felt the urge to go after her. I grabbed her hand only to feel beautiful electric pain shooting up my arm.

"Mate." My wolf growled.

I instantly let go of Cat's hand. Her face showed that she was just as shocked as I was. Before I could even speak, she was running to her car and jumping in.

Maybe she doesn't want me for a mate or doesn't want a mate at all. I don't want a damn rogue for a mate anyway! Well, what the hell do I do now?
